atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Main yaar manana ni

Posted on: November 5, 2008

Here is a Laxmikant Pyarelal song full of verve and enthusiasm. Such songs were typically the preserve of Asha Bhonsle, but this particular song has been sung by Lata and Minoo Purushottam, and the result is a song that was very popular during its days.

The picturisation is just as hectic. This song is not picturised on the leading ladies but on two bit actresses. The leading ladies (Sharmila Tagore and Rakhi) in fact are among the spectators watching this dance as is Rajesh Khanna. I can identify one of the dancers as Padma Khanna, and the other is someone called Aruna (not Aruna Irani) as informed by Greta (Memsaab). It must be said that such a vigorous dance is just the right exercise to keep in shape. Singing and dancing this song daily will certainly do a world of good to any aspiring weight loser.

Song- Main yaar manana ni (Daag) (1973) Singers-Lata, Minoo Purushottam, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Thanks for posting this wonderful song, Atul.
I can listen to this any number of times and also watch the video. Like you say, the song has a lot of verve.

Now here is a typical Atul comment, one of the reasons I check out your blog virtually everyday :

“Singing and dancing this song daily will certainly do a world of good to any aspiring weight loser.” :-)

Raja, any idea who are the dancers ?

It’s Padma Khanna all right and a dancer named Aruna (but not Aruna Irani)

Thanks for this information, Greta.

Alpana, you are able to watch youtube videos but not dailymotion video. This video is hosted on dailymotion. You need to check the setting on your computer.

Thanks ,I will check my PC settings.

famous hero of past,KARAN DEWAAN(hero of RATAN-1944) is also there in the picturisation of the song as an elderly gentleman with spectacles, sitting alongwith another character artiste Manmohan Krishna.

I can’t stop singing this song these days, such a catchy tune…

Sahir’s lyrics didnt usually reveal his Punjabi roots, but here they do and it’s brilliant
