atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Parbat ke peeche chambe da gaaon

Posted on: December 19, 2008

Whenever a song talks of hills and mountains, I can imagine echoes coming back from the distant peaks of the mountain range.

And the songs picturised on mountains are often great songs, aurally as well as visually.

Now here is this song that I have listened to for three decades, and enjoyed it, without knowing much about its picturisation. The Lata-Kishore-R D Burman combination, like they have done many a times in the past, have come up with a very beautiful composition, whose words were created so carefully by Anand Bakshi.

Now that I have wathed the picturisation of this “Mehbooba” song which shows Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini, I now like this song even more. From what I can make out, it appears to me that the two meet and decide to get married ( what in 1970s were called by fans as “Bhagwan Saakshi” marriages- where the God in the temple used to be the only witness) and this is a song to celebrate that occasion.

Song-Parbat ke peeche (Mehbooba) (1976) Singers-Lata,Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi,MD-R D Burman

Lyrics

parbat ke peechhe, chambe daa gaanv
parbat ke peechhe, chambe daa gaanv
gaanv mein do premi rahte hain
parbat ke peechhe, chambe daa gaanv
gaanv mein do premi rahte hain
ho ham to nahin wo deewaanaa jinko
deewaane log kahte hain
ho gaanv mein do premi rahte hain

unki baaten sunte hain kyun chhupar sab jaane
unki baaten sunte hain kyun chhupar sab jaane
kya kya baaten karte rahte hain
wo ab jaane
unko kyon neend nahin aati wo rab jaane

taaron ke saath wo jagte hain raat ko
jharnon ke saath bahte hain
parbat ke peechhe, chambe daa gaanv
gaanv mein do premi rahte hain

milenge yaa bichhdenge, haaye raam kyaa hogaa
milenge yaa bichhdenge, haaye raam kyaa hogaa
na jaane un donon kaa anjaam kyaa hogaa
muft mein ho jaayenge wo badnaam kyaa hogaa
ghar se nikal ke, raste pe chal ke
taane hazaar sahte hain
ham to nahin wo deewaanaa jinko
deewaane log kahte hain
ho gaanv mein do premi rahte hain
hmmm hmmm…
