“Anarkali” was a musical extravaganza, where just about every song went on to become evergreen.
I have already posted one song from this movie. Now here is a Lata classic from this movie. “Ye zindagi usi ki hai jo kisi ka ho gaya” must be one of the most popular lines among all the Bollywood songs ever written. And kudos to Rajinder Krishan who penned these immortal lines.
And C Ramchandra was the person who was among those who shaped the destiny of Bollywood filmy music with some unforgettable compositions. This one song is just an example. He has of course created many more classics that live on to this date.
Song-Ye zindagi usi ki hai (Anarkali)(1953) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD- C Ramchandra
Lyrics
aaa aaa
ye zindagi usi ki hai, jo kisi kaa ho gayaa
pyaar hi mein kho gayaa,
ye zindagi usi ki hai, jo kisi kaa ho gayaa
pyaar hi mein kho gayaa,
ye zindagi usi ki hai
ye bahaar, ye samaa, kah rahaa hai pyaar kar
kisi ki aarzoo mein apne dil ko beqaraar kar
ye bahaar, ye samaa, kah rahaa hai pyaar kar
kisi ki aarzoo mein apne dil ko beqaraar kar
zindagi hai bewafaa aaa…
zindagi hai bewafaa, loot pyaar kaa mazaa
ye zindagi usi ki hai, jo kisi kaa ho gayaa
pyaar hi mein kho gayaa,
ye zindagi usi ki hai
dhadak rahaa hai dil to kyaa dil ki dhadkanen na gin
dhadak rahaa hai dil to kyaa dil ki dhadkanen na gin
phir kahaan ye fursaten, phir kahaan ye raat-din
aa rahi hai ye sadaa aaa…
aa rahi hai ye sadaa, mastiyon mein jhoom jaa
ye zindagi usi ki hai, jo kisi kaa ho gayaa
pyaar hi mein kho gayaa,
ye zindagi usi ki hai

Definitely an iconic song of yesteryear.
Reminds me of “jab pyar kiya to darna kya” .
I don’t think there has been a song like this in the last 40 years! The only other similar song would be “Pyar kiya to darna kya..” but I prefer the younger Lata in this song.
Really amazing!
such beauty, no one can beat such song which realized the significance of love in our life, one who can not love & loved by, cant live.
This is one of the few fantastic songs of a that era where u can feel the soulness in singing and even a dead body in grave can stand while hearing.
This an exceptional song. Compliments word and tune but very few songs have taken the singer to such high pitch at the end of the song and Lata mangeshkar proves her modulation.
Can think of one another song from “Ek Saal” again sung by Lata and music by Ravi. ” sabkuch lota ke hoshme aya to kya kia” which probably reaches the same pitch.

The influence of Noor Jahan is clearly there in this Lata classic.
