Ankhiyon ke jharokhon se

Posted on: January 23, 2009

This was a movie that I watched in matinee show by bunking my afternoon classes in the college. But then the songs of this movie were blaring all over the place and I could not help but get attacted towards the movie hall.

The song that drew me towards the movie hall was the title song of the movie viz “Ankhiyon ke jharokhon se”. The song had such an effect on me that I decided that I needed to watch the movie, even if it meant that I needed to miss my physics practicals.

When I watched the movie, I realised that the movie ends on a tragic note and what is more the end was shown in the beginning of the movie itself, and the rest of the movie was nothing but flashback.

That was not what I bargained for. I has hoped for a love story with a happy ending, but that was not to be.

But the title song never loosened its hold on me. Even to this day, this song has the same effect on me that it had on me 30 years ago. 30 years ? Was it that long ago ? How time flies ? Before I know, I will be talking about things that I did 120 years ago. ;)

The song was sung by Hemlata. She was the female singer of choice for Ravindra Jain who was the lyricist as well as music director for this movie and indeed for all the Rajshri productions movies in 1970s. The voice of Hemlata sounds so sweet and melodious in this song. The song haunts the listener throughout the movie as even outside the movie.

I was not the only person who found this song irresistible. The rest of India thought the same. This song became the number one song in the Binaca geetmala finals of 1978.

Song-Ankhiyon ke jharokhon se (Ankhiyon ke jharokhon se ) (1978) Singer-Hemlata, Lyrics-Ravindra Jain, MD-Ravindra Jain

Lyrics

Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se Maine Dekha Jo Saanwre
Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se Maine Dekha Jo Saanwre
Tum Door Nazar Aaye Badi Door Nazar Aaye
Band Karke Jharokhon Ko Zara Baithee Jo Sochne
Band Karke Jharokhon Ko Zara Baithee Jo Sochne
Man Mein Tumhi Muskaye Man Mein Tumhi Muskaye
Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se

Ek Man Tha Mere Paas Woh Ab Khone Laga Hai
Paakar Tujhe Haaye Mujhe Kuchh Hone Laga Hai
Ek Man Tha Mere Paas Woh Ab Khone Laga Hai
Paakar Tujhe Haaye Mujhe Kuchh Hone Laga Hai
Ik Tere Bharose Pe Sab Baithee Hoon Bhool Ke
Ik Tere Bharose Pe Sab Baithee Hoon Bhool Ke
Yoon Hi Umr Guzar Jaye Tere Saath Guzar Jaye
Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se…

Jeeti Hoon Tujhe Dekh Ke Marti Hoon Tumhi Pe
Tum Ho Jahan Saajan Meri Duniya Hai Wahin Pe
Jeeti Hoon Tujhe Dekh Ke Marti Hoon Tumhi Pe
Tum Ho Jahan Saajan Meri Duniya Hai Wahin Pe
Din Raat Dua Maange Mera Man Tere Waaste
Din Raat Dua Maange Mera Man Tere Waaste
Kabhi Apni Ummeedon Ka Koyi Phool Na Murjhaye
Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se…

Main Jab Se Tere Pyar Ke Rangon Mein Rangi Hoon
Jagte Huye Soyi rahi Neendon Mein Jagi Hoon
hmm
Main Jab Se Tere Pyar Ke Rangon Mein Rangi Hoon
Jagte Huye Soyi rahi Neendon Mein Jagi Hoon
Mere Pyar Bhare Sapne Kahin Koi Na Chheen Le
Mere Pyar Bhare Sapne Kahin Koi Na Chheen Le
Man Soch Ke Ghabraye Yahi Soch Ke Ghabraye
Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se Maine Dekha Jo Saanwre
Tum Door Nazar Aaye Badi Door Nazar Aaye
Band Karke Jharokhon Ko Zara Baithee Jo Sochne
Man Mein Tumhi Muskaye Man Mein Tumhi Muskaye
hmm

oh, Ranjeeta..had forgotten all about her and Sachin who looked totally underaged to be in movies!

Indeed, Sachin looked like a spoilt brat who should have been in college but was wasting his time acting in movies.

Must watch this movie then..
