This is a very special song in more ways than one.
For one, it is a song where Kishore Kumar acts but does not sing. Yes, here he is seen lip syncing to the voice of Rafi.
Well, influential music directors like O P Nayyar and Shankar Jaikishan had insisted, and got their way, on getting Rafi to sing for Kishore Kumar in a few songs, but this music director is a totally unknown name. This music directors are called Lala Asar Sattar. They are three different individuals namely Lata, Asar and Sattar.
Moreover, this movie ” Pyaar Deewaana” (released in 1972) was a movie that took ages to get completed. It was begun in 1966 when both Kishore Kumar and Mumtaz ( the lead actors of this movie) were relatively nobodies. Since the movie took 6 years to complete, one can actually see the duo grow as the movie progresses. Kishore Kumar, who was in his thirtees, grew into his fourtees. Rafi was still the leading male playback singer when this song was picturised and so the music director may not have faced too much resistance from anyone when he decided to use rafi’s voice for this song.
Not just Kishore Kumar, even Mumtaz grew from a starlet to the most sought after heroine as the movie dragged on. She was a starlet while this song was picturised.
This song is quite a nice time pass tapori song. In fact, this song reminds me vaguely of “ham kaale hai to kyaa hua dilwaale hain” and for long I thought that it was a Shankar Jaikishan composition, before I found out the name of the music director of this movie.
This song is written by another less known lyricist, viz Asad Bhopali.
PS- By the time the shooting of this movie got completed, Kishore Kumar had become the reigning singing star and Mumtaz had become the reigning lead actress. And other songs of this movie picturised on Kishore Kumar were sung by Kishore Kumar himself.

It is such a nice feeling to see Rafi sing for Kishore, it is like both of them saying.. “please do not compare our singing”.
