Prem Kahani me ik ladka hota hai

Posted on: April 13, 2009

Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz made a very popular pair of late 1960s and early 1970s. Their on screen chemistry was such that just about any movie and any song picturised on the duo became popular.

Rain songs picturised on them have become the stuff of legends. There was bound to be a rain song picturised on them in every movie where they worked together.

“Prem Kahani” (1975) was perhaps the last movie where Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz acted together. And as always, there is a rain song in this movie too.

Here is this lovely song “prem kahani me ik ladka hota hai”. Written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal, this song was sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata. In this song,Mumtaz for a change is not seen wearing orange. Here she is seen a pink sari and Rajesh Khanna is also seen wearing pink. I suppose those days they did not know as much about what pink stands for and all those modern beliefs.

This song, the last rain song picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz, is a fitting finale to their long and successful association in Bollywood movies.

Song-Prem kahaani me ik ladka hota hai (Prem Kahaani)(1975) Singers-Lata, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

suno sunaaye ek kahaani
jab aati hai rut pe jawaani
tab banti hai prem kahaani
prem kahaani me
ik ladka hota hai
ik ladki hoti hai
kabhi dono hanste hain, kabhi dono rote hain
prem kahaani me
ik ladka hota hai
ik ladki hoti hai
kabhi dono hanste hain, kabhi dono rote hain
prem kahaani me
ik ladka hota hai
ik ladki hoti hai
kabhi dono hanste hain, kabhi dono rote hain

itni si chhoti si hoti hai ik chingaari
itni si chhoti si hoti hai ik chingaari
jal jaati hai, phunk jaati hai, jis mein duniyaa saari
chaandni raaton me
raaton me
ik deepak hota hai
hota hai
ik baati hoti hai
kabhi dono jalte hain, kabhi dono bujhte hain
prem kahaani me
ik ladka hota hai
ik ladki hoti hai
kabhi dono hanste hain, kabhi dono rote hain

jhoomke parbat pe rimjhim jab aata hai saawan
ho ho
jhoomke parbat pe rimjhim jab aata hai saawan
saawan mein premi paagal ho jaate hain saajan
in barsaaton mein
hmmm
ik baadal hota hai
hmm
ik bijli hoti hai
kabhi dono taraste hain, kabhi dono baraste hain
prem kahaani me
ek ladka hota hai
ek ladki hoti hai
kabhi dono hanste hain, kabhi dono rote hain

saath milan ke naam judaayi ka likha hai aisa
saath milan ke naam judaayi ka likha hai aisa
ye jeewan bhi khel tamaasha hai ik naatak jaisa
jaise naatak mein
ho ik raaja hota hai
hmmm ik Rani hoti hai
kabhi dono milte hain, kabhi dono bichhadte hain
prem kahaani me
ik ladka hota hai
ik ladki hoti hai
kabhi dono hanste hain, kabhi dono rote hain

Nice song. From my schooldays.
Rajesh looked good even in this pink shirt.
In those days he used to look good in anything he wore.
It was after 1975 that he began going down.

Lovely song and again a very under rated film which didn’t do well at all when it released but is considered quite a classic now. Great music over all.

This song was just amazing to listen to. Or may be it seemed so to my impressionable mind those days.

I may not have grown much from that time, since this song continues to have the same effect on me even now.

Really excellent pair. Old songs are never to forget. They are forever sweet. Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz pair is beautiful.

Yes indeed. Watching any song picturised on this pair is bound to make one’s day.

sweet song :)

a translate would be awesome
