“Main Sundar Hoon”(1971) is not a movie that too many people may remember now. But this movie had some amazingly popular songs which were just the songs to appeal to youngsters.
Here is one of those songs. “Aaj main jawaan ho gayi hoon” sung by Lata and picturised on Leena Chandawarkar was quite a rage. I on my part was not aware ( till recently) which movie this song was from, and obviously I was not aware about other details too.
Now I know that this song was picturised on Leena Chandawarkar and her parrot and she sings this song to celebrate her coming of age. Apparently she turns 16 ( which in Bollywood lingo meant a girl had grown up.)
Anand Bakshi is the lyricist of this “growing up” song. Shankar Jaikishan composed this song.
The parrot’s voice is also briefly heard in this song. Considering that anyone whose voice is heard in a song is credited as a singer, Mitthu mian too is a singer of this song in my book. Too bad the parrot was not credited as a co singer of Lata in this song.

Indeed, this movie had very popular songs. This song was one, “naach meri jaan” was another. “Do mastaane” , “Mujhko thand lag rahi hai” (can never forget Biswajeet in yellow pants 
. So typically, South Indian taste of that time.
Maybe you can post the other songs of this movie also, Atul, since Greta seems to like them very much.

OMG!!!!!!! I have been meaning to request this from you—it’s like you’ve read my mind!
I love all the songs from this film, and this might be my favorite (although Naach Meri Jaan is pretty awesome too)…
I’ve been singing the first line from this for weeks now, and hopefully now I can learn the other lyrics too!
