By now I have posted more than a thousand songs from the golden era of Bollywood music. It can be easily noticed that lyrics played a very important roles in the success of these songs. In 1980s and later, lyrics lost its importance in the minds of the music directors and from that time onwards, [...]

Dil ki umangen hain jawaan

This is a rare song from “Munimji” (1954). So rare in fact that I heard this song for the first time only yesterday.

Dekho ji mera jiyaa churaaye liye jaaye

Music director Roshan had a career as music director spanning from 1950 to 1967 and during this period he created some memorable music.

“Andaaz” (1949) seemed to have only piano songs in it. Dilip Kumar had many piano songs in this movie. This particular song is not sung by Mukesh ( for Dilip Kumar) but by Lata ( for Nargis) and this too is a Piano song of sorts.

“Ek Nazar” (1972) was an eminently forgettable movie and it was duly forgotten. Few people today remember that this movie had Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri in lead roles.

“Guide” (1965) was voted by Bollywood insiders ( music directors, lyricists, singers) as the movie with the best music among all Bollywood movies in history. It is no mean achievement, and it shows just how highly the music of this movie is regarded by the Bollywood music industry themselves.

I have posted many Lata-Madan Mohan creations in this blog. Most of these songs are easily timeless classics. And they are all precious gems, which can be listened to many times, without getting bored.

“Deedaar” (1951) was a movie starring Dilip Kumar and Nargis. The movie had some nice songs written by Shakeel Badayuni and composed by Naushad.

Uthaaye jaa unke sitam

I have posted a few piano songs from “Andaaz” (1949), all sung by Mukesh and picturised on Dilip Kumar. Here for a change, I post a Lata song picturised on Nargis. And guess what ? This song is not a piano song for a change
