Naach meri jaan fataafaat

Posted on: May 1, 2009

Like what was the case with other songs of “Main Sundar hoon”, I had listened to this song and liked it during 1971, but I was not aware that this song was from “Main Sundar Hoon”.

This song was as popular as the other three songs from this movi that I have already posted. This song was meant to give a glimpse of the behind the scene working of Bollywood. In this song, for instance, Kishore Kumar is shown singing this song in the recording studio, with Jaikishan visible in the recording too. Mehmood and Jaishree T are shown shooting for the picturisation of this song.

The lyrics of this song are lighthearted and they take a dig at the “modern” ( read western) ways of dancing, romancing etc. Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music. Asha Bhonsle also sang this song, though she is not shown in the recording room.

Awesome! The beginning is great! The song is so energetic.!
Do you have more ‘behind the scenes’ videos? They are hard to find but so interesting!

This song in fact was picturised like that.

There are a few other unconventionally picturised song as well, where celebrities play themselves.

This song was very popular.
Total timepass song.
Lovely picturisation.

I have posted four songs from this movie. And guess what, there are more such songs in this movie. I will post them too.

This is such an infectious song. I’m afraid if I watch it it’ll be stuck in my head for days, like when I first saw it :-D

As mentioned earlier, there are more songs in this movie that I absolutely loved when the songs from this movie were first released.

I just saw on TV an ad for the car Honda Crosstour, and the music sounds much like this song… I wonder which came first??

The song is 37 years old, whereas the ad is recent. Indeed many ads have music that are inspired from old music. The ad makers hope that the old music is not known to audience so that they could pass off the music as their own original creation.

Just read that one Miriam Makeba made this 60s hit song “Pata Pata”… I had never heard of it before… but it sounds eerily like Naach Meri Jaan… But it is just a curious thing, no big deal…

[...] I have so far discussed as many as four songs from this movie, viz. Aaj main jawaan ho gayi hoon , Do mastaane do deewaane, Mujhe thand lag rahi hai and Naach meri jaan fatafaat. [...]
