atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Tera dil kahaan hai

Posted on: May 20, 2009

“Chandni Chowk” (1954) appears to be a treasure trove for some interesting songs. I have noticed that this movie has lyrics written by the likes of Shailendra, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, Majrooh Sultanpuri,Vishamitra Adil and Saifuddin Sez. Similarly, this movie has songs sung by Rafi, Mukesh, Lata , Asha Bhonsle, Mubarak Begum,Sapan Chakravarty, Shyam Sundar and even Meena Mangeshkar.

Despite all this information, I failed to get the information about the lyricist of this song sung by Asha Bhonsle which goes “Tera dil kahaan hai”.

This is a guitar song. Guitar is played by a lady who also sings this song.

When one listens to this song, one may quickly jump to conclusion saying that this tune is directly lifted from th song “rahen na rahen ham” (Mamta). Well, the tune is identical, but then this movie “Chandni Chowk” came 12 years before “Mamta”, so this song is the song where this song is used first. Also, Roshan was the music director of “Mamta” as well, so one can say that he recycled the same tune again in “Mamta” and that song by Lata became more popular than this song sung by her younger sister 12 yeras ago.

I wonder who is the actress on which this song is picturised. I find the lyrics of this song quite dsensuous and inviting. Shekhar and Meena Kumari were the lead actors in this movie.

In my view, the composition of this song is superior to that of ‘rahen naa rahen ham’ from ‘Mamta (1966). But the lyrics of the latter song is superior to that of this song.

The female actor is Smriti Biswas and the instrument she is playing is not guitar but mandolin.
