Beqaraar dil tu gaaye jaa

Posted by: Atul on: May 28, 2009

I have heard this song earlier, but I did not pay much attention while doing that. And afterwards I have read lots and lots of nice things about this song. People regard it as one of the best songs that Kishore Kumar has ever sung.

Aasmaan pe hai Khuda aur zameen par ham

This is one song that was a long pending farmaish. But I was not able to post in earlier since I was unable to locate the video link of this song. Now that this link is available, here is this post about this song from “Phir Subah Hogi” (1958). This movie had Raj Kapoor in [...]

Aa jaayen jaane waalen

“Chandni Chowk” (1954) is a movie that is forgotten by now. But appears like this movie was made in altogether different era.

Mere piyaa chhede jiyaa

“Chacha Chawdhary” (1953) was one of the earlier movies of Madan Mohan as a music director. This movie is interesting in the sense that Madan Mohan in this movie preferred Asha Bhonsle over Lata for singing female solos. All the female solos in this movie have been sung by Asha Bhonsle. Lata has only figured [...]

This movie “Phaandebaaz” (1978) was rightly panned by the critics for being a hopeless movie, and so it proved. The movie failed at the box office and by now it is a forgotten movie.

“Anubhav” (1971) was a small budget movie which was not only different, it was in fact far ahead of its time. Not just the laymen, even the movie critics had yet to mature to appreciate such movies.

Here is a song from “Maa aur Mamtaa” (1970). I had never heard of this movie. Nor had I come across this song “rut bekaraar hai shaam e bahaar hai” from this movie.

Zulmi hamaare saanwariya ho raam

I have already posted a memorable Kishore Kumar song (Mere mehboob qayamat hogi) from this movie called “Mr X in Bombay”(1964). This movie starred Kishore Kumar and Kumkum. I am not sure what the movie was like, but it seems to me that Mr X, the main character of this movie could become invisible, just [...]

Roop ki dushman paapi duniyaa

Posted by: Atul on: May 27, 2009

In Bollywood movies, western music was used as early as 1940s itself. Early pioneers of this kind of music were C Ramchandra, Vinod etc. Here we find Naushad using “western” kind of music. In fact it is more like a fusion of desi and western music.
