“Anuraag” (1972) was not a movie that stood much of a chance at the box office, given its serious topic (blind heroine) kept majority of movie watchers away from this movie. The songs of this movie had no such handicap, however, and the songs were all runaway hit.

“Yahudi”(1958) was a mythological movie of foreign origin. The movie is of the Roman era of Marcus and Brutus. But I do not think there may have been too much of an authenticity in the portrayal of characters in this movie, even though this movie was made by the respected Bimal Ray.

“Shagoon”(1964) is not a movie too many will remember. But this movie certainly had some nice songs in it. And other interesting trivia from this movie is that this movie had Kanwaljit and Waheeda Rehman in lead roles, and they subsequently married each other.

In 1950s, Shankar Jaikishan tended to use Lata’s voice for all female playback songs. It is alright if they had to use her voice for one actress, but there were occasions when more than one actress in the same movie lip synced to Lata’s voice. Fortunately, they did not do so in the same song.
