If Nargis was “Mother India”, then who was “Miss India” ? Few people may be aware of it, but both these movies were released in the same year viz 1957. “Mother India” went on to become a timeless classic, whereas “Miss India” was forgotten. And interestingly, Nargis herself was in the lead role of “Miss India” too.
Here is a song from “Miss India” (1957) picturised on Nargis. The picturisation shows Nargis, a newly married bride, waiting for her husband who is nowhere to be seen. Then she fantasizes and sings this song, calling her beloved to come.
This song is a nicely written song by Rajinder Krishan and music is composed by S D Burman. Lata sang this song.

I saw this movie some time back. It was a gr8 movie, had all the masala which a commercial movie should have had.
It ended with a note that aaj kal ki miss india are educated, well-qualified and can handle everything.
It emphasized on education and character building of women while providing through and through entertainment.
Shammi ( as her friend) and IS Johar were at their best.
If someone remakes of this film now and makes few modifications , movie will have a commercial success.
