In Bollywood movies on gods, gods are often shown behaving in exemplary fashion, and not like humans. Perhaps that is one reason why such movies do not become popular with movie watchers. No love scenes, no songs and dance and therefore no audiences for such devotional movies.

Small time Bollywood movie producers tended to make movies of historical / mythologicals subjects in 1950s and 1960s. Most of these movies were C grade movies and the mainstream movie watchers kept away from them.

“Panchaayat” (1958) is not a movie that will ring too many bells. This was a movie with Raj Kumar and Shyama in lead roles. If this movie deserves to be remembered, then it would be for its music. This movie had music by Iqbal Qureshi. Shakeel Badayuni was the lyricist.

When one thinks of the music of “Blackmail” (1973), its song “pal pal dil ke paas” readily comes to mind. Most people, including me, remember only this one song from this movie.

This movie “Haseenon ke Devtaa” (1971) sank without a trace and few people now remember this movie.This movie had Sanjay Khan and Rekha in lead roles.

I had last heard this song over three decades ago. I was looking for this song for quite some time. I was finally able to locate this elusive song yesterday.
