There are many songs from the past which despite their obvius class did not become very popular. one can say that such songs were not quite meant for the masses. And those who appreciated such compositions were in a very small minority.
Now fortunately one can listen to such songs and appreciate them any time we want. Such a luxury was non existent in the past because if there were songs that failed to get popular then that almost spelled the death knells of such songs because records of these songs would not be produced in that case.
This song from “Chaand” (1959) did not become popular with the masses when this movie was released. But now when one listens to this song, one cannot help but love this song. And that too when thgis song is exactly half a century old !
This song is a “wedding night” song. It is written by Shailendra and composed by Hemant Kumar. Lata sings this song and it is picturised on Meena Kumari who plays a newly wed bride looking forwards to her meeting with her groom.
