This song is an archtypical Hemant Kumar song that I have heard several times. But apart from the knowledge of this being a song sung by Hemant Kumar, I was blank about any other details of this song.
Now I have the details and it turns out that this song is from an obscure movie and it is picturised on an obscure actor. This song is from “Faraar” (1965). Hemant Kumar is the singer as well as the composer of this song and Kaifi Azmi is the lyricist. This song was picturised on Anil Chatterji, a well known actor of Bangla movies. This song is picturised as a party song.
Anil Chatterji’s foray into Hindi movies, like that of other Bangla movie actors- viz Uttam Kumar, Supriya Chatterji, etc did not prove successful, seeing that this movie is hardly known among movie buffs.But what songs this movie had ! These songs may not have been very popular with aam jantaa, but these songs are great songs to listen to as they are ideal “mental massage” category of songs. And this song is indeed a very nice song to listen to.

I really wonder why Hemant Kumar’s such nice songs are not performed by the contestants of the reality shows. I am sure if this song would have the lips of Devanand, it could have done wonders! Poor Anil Chatterjee’s bad luck that he didn’t succeed in Hindi movies with such a good support of song and music.
