atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Le chala jidhar ye dil nikal pade

Posted on: December 19, 2009

In the second half of 1950s, we had movie titles beginning with Miss, Mr and so on. thus we had movies like Miss India, Miss India, Mr X, Mr and Mrs 55 etc.

Here is a song from a B grade movie called Miss Bombay. Unlike the other movies with this kind of title, this movie apparently was not about a person but a vehicle. Yes, this movie is about a bus called “Miss Bombay” which is driven by Ajit, who is the hero of this movie.

I have posted a couple of very fine songs from this movie already. Here is another song from this movie. This movie shows Ajit driving the bus called “Miss Bombay”. While doing so, he sings this song. The song is sung by Rafi. It is written by Prem Dhawan and music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.

It is a song which I heard for the first time only just now. It is one of the countless number of forgotten gems from that era which are required to be brought back to the notice of music lovers.

Song-Le chala jidhar ye dil nikal pade (Miss Bombay) (1957) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Hansraj Bahl

Lyrics

le chalaa jidhar ye dil nikal pade
ham chalen jidhar zamaanaa chal pade
jo saath waqt ke chalaa wo mard hai
jo rah gayaa wo raaste ki gard hai
le chalaa jidhar ye dil nikal pade
ham chalen jidhar zamaanaa chal pade
jo saath waqt ke chalaa wo mard hai
jo rah gayaa wo raaste ki gard hai

subho-shaam kaam hi kaam hai
yahi to hai naseeb jiskaa naam hai
subho-shaam kaam hi kaam hai
yahi to hai naseeb jiskaa naam hai
tadbeer kiye jaao taqdeer badal jaayegi
aaj naa sahi to kal suhaani ghadi aayegi
le chalaa jidhar ye dil nikal pade
ham chalen jidhar zamaanaa chal pade
jo saath waqt ke chalaa wo mard hai
jo rah gayaa wo raaste ki gard hai

moti bhi mile to tum naa bheekh lo
haathon se kamaa ke jeenaa seekh lo
moti bhi mile to tum naa bheekh lo
haathon se kamaa ke jeenaa seekh lo
mutthi mein tumhaari chhupaa huaa jahaan hai
mattii sonaa ho tumhaare haathon mein wo jaan hai
le chalaa jidhar ye dil nikal pade
ham chalen jidhar zamaanaa chal pade
jo saath waqt ke chalaa wo mard hai
jo rah gayaa wo raaste ki gard hai

o jeene waale zindagi kaa raag sun
aaraam hai haraam ye aawaaz sun
o jeene waale zindagi kaa raag sun
aaraam hai haraam ye aawaaz sun
ye raaz toone jaanaa to zindgaani ban gayi
warnaa jeene-marne ki yoon kahaani ban gayi
le chalaa jidhar ye dil nikal pade
ham chalen jidhar zamaanaa chal pade
jo saath waqt ke chalaa wo mard hai
jo rah gayaa wo raaste ki gard hai
le chalaa jidhar ye dil nikal pade
ham chalen jidhar zamaanaa chal pade
jo saath waqt ke chalaa wo mard hai
jo rah gayaa wo raaste ki gard hai

Lovely song Atul…would love to see the film too, I *heart* Ajit.

thank you atul for reminding me of this song.
what a meaningful “message ful ” song

Personally I heard this song only recently i.e only hours before posting the song.

And indeed watching Ajit in his hero days is as much fyun as watching him as a villain.

If anyone have song “din ho ya raat hum rahe tere saath” from this movie Miss Bombay, plz send me at shree_kant1975@rediffmail.com
