There are some songs about which I come to know by reading about them. But when I look for them, these songs are extremely elusive, as they are not available anywhere.

“Mirza Ghalib” (1954) was a movie based on the life of Mirza Ghalib, who was one of the greatest Urdu poets of all time. This meant that the makers of this movie did not have to hire a lyricist. Mirza Ghalib’s poems themselves served as the lyrics. And what superb lyrics they are too.

“Baadshah” (1954) is a forgotten movie by now. This movie had Pradeep Kumar, Usha Kiran and Mala Sinha in lead roles.

There are at least two movies called CID that I am aware of. One is CID (1956) and another is CID 909 (1967).

“Udan Khatola” (1955) is a movie that had some nice songs in it. As many as three songs from this movie had figured in the list of top 16 songs of the year 1955 in the Binaca geetmala annual list of 1955.

For those who are into trivia, here is an interesting bit of information. Hemant Kumar sang just four songs under the music direction of Shankar Jaikishan. All these songs were sung in 1953 and 1954.
