Na aadmi ka koi bharosaa na dosti ka koi thikaanaa

The farmaish of this song from “Aadmi” (1968) was given by Lalitha today. This is a kind of song where getting the lyrics right is a straightforward task without much challenge and so here is the song, in double quick time.
As can be seen, the song is a bewafaayi (betrayal) song sung by a wheelchair bound Dilip Kumar who is seen accusing both Manoj Kumar and Waheeda Rehman of betraying him, with the later duo looking suitably ashamed.
This song is sung by Rafi. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and Naushad composed the music.
So here is this memorable song from “Aadmi” (1968).
Song-Na aadmi ka koi bharosaa (Aadmi) (1968) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Naushad
Lyrics
teri muhabbat pe shaq nahin hai,
teri wafaaon ko maantaa hoon
magar tujhe kiski aarzoo hai,
main ye haqeeqat bhi jaantaa hoon
na aadmi kaa koi bharosaa,
na dosti kaa koi thikaanaa
wafaa kaa badlaa hai bewafaayi
ajab zamaanaa hai ye zamaanaa
na aadmi kaa koi bharosaa
na husn mein ab wo dilkashi hai,
na ishq mein ab wo zindagi hai
jidhar nigaahein uthaake dekho,
sitam hai dhokhaa hai berukhi hai
badal gaye zindagi ke naghme,
bikhar gayaa pyaar kaa taraanaa
badal gaye zindagi ke naghme,
bikhar gayaa pyaar kaa taraanaa
na aadmi kaa koi bharosaa
dawaa ke badle mein zahar de do
utaar do mere dil mein khanjar
lahoo se seenchaa thaa jis chaman ko,
uge hain shole usi ke andar
mere hi ghar ke chiraag ne khud,
jalaa diyaa meraa aashiyaanaa
mere hi ghar ke chiraag ne khud,
jalaa diyaa meraa aashiyaanaa
na aadmi kaa koi bharosaa,
na dosti kaa koi thikaanaa
wafaa kaa badlaa hai bewafaayi
ajab zamaanaa hai ye zamaanaa
na aadmi kaa koi bharosaa

Dear Ms. Lalitha, you have got the story wrong, the movie has been telecasted several times on various TV channels.
When Wahida was bethroted to Dilipkumar, he was normal, he met with an accident in the narration and yes Manojkumar did live till the end, Simi was the 4th character with whom Manojkumar eventually married. The story was good but probably a little overacting by Dilipkumar (I felt that way) prevented this movie from becoming subtle and enticing…
It was too loud for my taste..

Thanks, Atul, for publishing the lyrics and the song so promptly! Yes, they are simple, but they just would not come up from the recesses of my memory. After all, they had been tucked away for more than 40 years, and who knows where they were hiding!
I think this movie was a complicated one, I vaguely remember that Manoj and Waheeda were in love, then she was promised in marriage to Dilip by her father, then Dilip tried to kill Manoj out of jealousy, and goes away, leaving Waheeda thinking that he was dead, and returns in the end. I am not sure if Manoj was alive at the end, but in any case, I was not good at paying attention to Manoj! I am just wondering why Waheeda was betrothed to a handicapped Dilip.
Thanks again, Atul!
