atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Aadmi gareeb ho yaa ameer ho…sambhaalo dil zaraa

Posted on: September 5, 2010

“Dil Bhi Tera Ham Bhi Tere” (1960) is a B grade movie, going by its star cast. It has Balraj Sahni and Kumkum in lead roles and Dharmendra makes his acting debut in this movie.

Movie may be B grade, but as noted so many times, even B grade movies those days had A grade music, seeing how many out of job talented music directors were there to choose from. Upcoming music duo of Kalyanji Anandji composed the music in this movie and they created some wonderful songs in this movie.

I had never heard of this song before, but when I heard it, I was bowled over. This song is a light hearted club song/ party song sung by Mahendra Kapoor in the beginning and then by Geeta Dutt. The lip syncing is done by Mohan Choti and Kumkum respectively. Lyricist is Kanhaiyya Lal Pardesi.

The song is fabulous, Mahendra Kapoor has done a competent job, and Geeta Dutt is simply outstanding. The same can be said about the actors on whom this song is picturised. Mohan Choti, a bit actor normally known for playing side kick to main actor, gets a song for himself (he got another song to lip sync in Anpadh a couple of years later, viz. Sikandar ne Porus se ki thi ladaayi . Kumkum, as usual, is brilliant in the picturisation.

The song is not all that well known, but this song certainly deserves to be known better.

Song-Aadmi ghareeb ho yaa ameer ho …sambhaalo dil zaraa(Dil Bhi Tera Ham Bhi Tere) (1960) Singers-Mahendra Kumar, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-K L Pardesi, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

arre aadmi
aadmi ghareeb ho ya ameer ho
upto date zindagi zaroor ho
aadmi ghareeb ho ya ameer ho
upto date zindagi zaroor ho
aadmi hain beautiful janaab ham

dekhiye zaraa hamen bhi ghoor ke
aa rahe hain ham bhi Hollywood se
arre dekhiye hamen zaraa bhi ghoor ke
aa rahe hain ham bhi Hollywood se
arre Hollywood ho ya Kanpur ho
aadmi ghareeb ho ya ameer ho
upto date zindagi zaroor ho
lalalalalalalala
lalalalallalalala

sambhaalo dil zaraa o Mister Bill zaraa
sambhaalo dil zaraa o Mister Bill zaraa
bada zaalim nishaana hai meri dilkash adaaon kaa
bada zaalim nishaana hai meri dilkash adaaon kaa
sambhaalo dil zaraa o Mister Bill zaraa
sambhaalo dil zaraa o Mister Bill zaraa

dekhoon jise main nazren uthaakar
bachne na paaye wo bekhabar
dekhoon jise main nazren uthaakar
bachne na paaye wo bekhabar
bachha le daaman
jhuka le palken
karaar jaaye naa
sambhaalo dil zaraa o Mister Bill zaraa
bada zaalim nishaana hai meri dilkash adaaon kaa
sambhaalo dil zara o Mister Bill zaraa
sambhaalo dil zara o Mister Bill zaraa

zulfon ka aanchal
gaalon ki laali
jaadoo bhari hai meri hansi
zulfon ka aanchal
gaalon ki laali
jaadoo bhari hai meri hansi
jahaan bhi jaaun
jidhar bhi jaaun
jagaa doon main toofaan
sambhaalo dil zaraa o Mister Bill zaraa
bada zaalim nishaana hai meri dilkash adaaon kaa
sambhaalo dil zara o Mister Bill zaraa
sambhaalo dil zara o Mister Bill zaraa

What a lovely Kum Kum dance, and Dharmendra and Mohan Choti look like babies!!!! Love this song.

I think that the band is led by Ted Lyons’ father-in-law, Fats Benny—the stout man playing the maracas :)

I need to watch this film.

Dharmendra is also there in this song? I did not notice. And I have no clue about the band, of course. :D

Yes he is there, very skinny and young :D

Thanks for this–these songs are fun to watch I like the way Dharam bows in the end and misses his cue.
