atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Mukhde pe gesoo aa gaye

Posted on: June 26, 2011

This article is written by Sudhir, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

Reading about the Atul ji’s description of the tresses and curls of Indian film heroines, as he discussed yesterday in the song Zulfon ko hataa le chehre se (Saawan Ki Ghata) , I am reminded about this wonderful Kishore da song from the movie Paayal Ki Jhankaar.

This film is a 1968 release, directed by MV Raman. The main players in this movie are Kishore Kumar, Rajshree, Jyoti Laxmi, Rehmaan, Baby Fairda, Dhumal etc. Rajshree in this film is the South Indian actress and not V Shantaram’s daughter. The lyrics are by Qamar Jalaalabaadi, and the wonderful composition is by C Ramchandra. The song is picturised on Kishore da himself. The romantic feelings are directed towards Jyoti Laxmi, who is taking a bath in the river with her friends. The composition by C Ramchandra is really beautiful – it so well captures the flowing sound and the rhythm of waters and the rapids. One just has to close the eyes, and listen to the flow of the music – the mind is automatically drawn to the thoughts of flowing rivers and waterfalls.

Listen to and enjoy this wonderful melody of flowing water.

Song-Mukhde pe gesoo aa gaye (Paayal ki jhankaar)(1968)Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics

mukhde pe gesu aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
chandaa pe baadal chhaa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar

aaj hum ne roop dekha
chaandni ke bhes mein
aaj hum ne roop dekha
chaandni ke bhes mein
ek pardesi bechaara
lut gayaa pardes mein
ek pardesi bechaara
lut gayaa pardes mein
dil ke dushman aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
mukhade pe gesu aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar

tujh ko maalik ne banaaya
khaas apne haath se
tujh ko maalik ne banaaya
khaas apne haath se
subah se mukhdaa banaaya
aur zulfen raat se
subah se mukhdaa banaaya
aur zulfen raat se
phool khil kar aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
mukhade pe gesu aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar

le gayeen dil le gayeen
teri nazar ki shokhiyaan
aa meri aankhon mein padh le
aarzoo ki daastaan
aa meri aankhon mein padh le
aarzoo ki daastaan
dil ke armaan aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
mukhade pe gesu aa gaye
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
aadhe idhar aadhe udhar
mukhade pe gesu aa gaye

Atulji

the lady who is there in the song is JYOTHILAXMI(famous for her cabret and club song dances in Tamil,Telugu and Kannada movies,She has got another step sister who specialised in similiar club dance and cabret song and dances namely JAYAMALINI)

Prakash ji

Thanks for the correction. I checked on the net, and you are right about the lady in this song being Jyothilaxmi, the actress from 50s and 60s Tamil/Telegu/Kannada movies. Apologies for incorrect identification.

(As I checked, also found that there is another Jyothilaxmi, who is currently active in the Telegu cinema, in similar roles.)
