atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Kal ke chaand aaj ke sapne

Posted on: September 20, 2011

While discussing lori (lullaby) songs, I have mentioned that most lullabies are sung by female singers and picturised on actresses playing mother to some tiny tot. But it does not mean that there have not been lories sung by male singers. There may be just a few such songs but they are there.

What about a duet lori ? Well , I never thought about this, to be frank. But why not ? Why the two parents cannot sing a duet lori to their kid.

Here is a song that appears to be a duet lori to me. It is sung by Hemant Kumar and Lata. This song is from “Nayi Raahen” (1959) which was a movie produced by Goel Cine Corporation and it was directed by Brij Sadanah. This movie had Geeta Bali, Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar,Madan puri, Shubha Khote, Nazir Hussain, Mohan Choti,Radha Krishan, Bhagwan etc in it. I have no idea about the picturisation of this song and I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this song.

Prakashchandra, who sent me the lyrics and other details of this song and the movie, recalls that this song has a female solo version too that he has heard on radio. I will look for that version too and include it here, but in the meanwhile here is the first duet lori of this blog for our readers to enjoy.
PS-Now I have provided the link to the Lata solo version of the song too.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravi.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

Kal ke chaand aaj ke sapne
tumko pyaar bahut saa pyaar
kal ke chaand aaj ke sapne
tumko pyaar bahut saa pyaar

laal tumhaare hi dum se kal
jagmag hoga ye sansaar
kal ke chaand aaj ke sapne
tumko pyaar bahut saa pyaar

aankh micholi khelega kal
tumse aangan meraa
sang tumhaare laut aayega
roothha bachpan mera
roothha bachpan mera
ab tutlaakar baat karenge
ye darwaaze ye deewaar
laal tumhare hi dum se kal
jagmag hoga ye sansaar

kal ke chaand aaj ke sapne
tumko pyaar bahut sa pyaar

nain tumhaare chaand aur sooraj
nain tumhaare chaand aur sooraj
tumse jeewan jyoti
sada meri palkon mein rehnaa
mere man ke moti
mere man ke moti
ek baar maa kehne par hum
nyochhaawar honge sau baar

laal tumhaare hi dum se kal
jagmag hoga ye sansaar
kal ke chaand aaj ke sapne
tumko pyaar bahut saa pyaar

This song reminds me the recent lullaby like song from
AAKHRI RAASTA:
“Tune mera doodh piya hai, tu bilkul mere jaisa hai, tujhmein hai khoon mera, tu bilkul mere jaisa hai”
(sung on screen by parents enacted by Amithabh bachchan, Jayaprada-playback by Mohammed Aziz and S.Janaki-music by Laxmikant pyarelal)

This is gorgeous :) Good find! And thanks for the lyrics Prakash :)

Indeed it is a good find. Now I have included the link to female solo version of the lullaby too.

Atulji

THANKS for the Lata version of the song.
I like lata`s version more(as my ear is accustomed to listening her voice day and night-that is blind love for the voice) eventhough Hemanthji`s voice is more soul stirring in the song)

In fact I have first heard the lata solo on radio, While searching for the song on Youtube, I stumbled upon Hemant & lata version of the song.

Atulji, Greta ji

Thank you for your kind words. In fact, the whole credit should go to VividhBharathi Radio station and the announcers of the stations for guiding me through their programmes.

regards
