Deep jalenge deep deewaali aayi ho

Posted on: October 26, 2011

“Paisa” (1957), by now an obscure movie was a Prithvi theatre production. It was directed by Prithviraj Kapoor. This movie had Prithviraj Kapoor, Kuldip Kaur, Zohra Sehgal,Urza Mumtaz, Ravindra Kapoor, Vishwa Mehra, Ermeline, Sudesh Kumar, Pushpa,Sunder, Shree Ram etc in it.

Not much is known about this movie today. But I just discovered that this movie had a Deewaali song in it.

Here is this rare deewaali song from a forgotten movie. This song is sung b Geeta Dutt. Music is composed by Ram Ganguli. I have no idea about the lyricist and I am unable to guess who the lip syncing actress in this song could be.

I request our knowledgeable readers to help throw light on this matter.

PS-Now, thanks to the information provided by Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, I know that the lyricist is Lalchand Bismil aka Bismil Peshawari. It is a new name for this blog.

And I take this opportunity to wish all the readers a very happy deewaali and a happy new year.

Song-Deep jalenge deep deewaali aayi ho (Paisa) (1957) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Lalchand Bismil Peshaawari, MD-Ram Ganguli

Lyrics

Deep jalenge deep
deewaali aayi ho

deep jalenge deep

aa rahi hai man veenaa ke taar hilaane waali
aa rahi hai priye prem maala ?? waali

jhananan jhananan baaj rahi hai
jhananan jhananan baaj rahi hai
noopur ki shehnaayi ho

neel gagan ki gori ne pehni hai neeli saari
nainon mein kaajal chamka taaron ne maang sanwaari
kaali raat amaawas ki ho
kaali raat amaawas ki
sab dekh dekh muskaaye ho
ho deewaali aayi ho
deep jalenge deep

ho deewaali aayi ho
deep jalenge deep
deewaali aayi ho
ho deewaali aayi ho

pooja archnaa
karne ko
uthh sajni
thhaal sajaa le
chun chun phool
goonth le maala
ghee ke diye jalaa le
aaj dev ke darshan honge
aaj dev ke darshan honge
aaj dev ke darshan honge
yehi sandesha laayi ho
ho deewaali aayi ho
deep jalenge deep
deewaali aayi ho
ho deewaali aayi ho
deep jalenge deep
deewaali aayi ho
ho deewaali aayi ho

Thanks a lot for this information.

Atul ji,
Not much info is available about Lalchand Bismil.
Lalchand Purohit,a young writer from Peshawar came to the film world with great dreams. He had command over Urdu,Persian,Hindi and English. He was a wellread person.a thorough gentleman to the core, may be this was not enough to survive in the ‘dog eat dog’ film line.He tried his hand at Lyrics, story, screenplay and dialogue writing in big banners like Minerva and New Theatre also.
He first wrote dialogues in SAPERA-1939 of new Theatres.
In Minerva’s path breaking story of incest,Bharosa-1940,he wrote the story, screenplay and Lyrics also.
Deepak-1951,Dialogues
Chalte chalte-1947,Lyrics
Zanjir-1947,Lyrics
After Paisa-1957,lyrics,his trace is totally lost.
He took the name of Bismil,as he was impressed with Ramprasad Bismil.
