“Kavi Kalidas”(1959) is a Sindhu Films production. It was directed by S N Tripathi. The movie had Bharat Bhushan, Nirupa Roy, Anita Guha,Sapru, Sabita Chatterjee, Niranjan Sharma, Babu Raje, Bharat Bhushan, etc in this movie.

I have discussed three songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song. This song is an all female duet which is sung by Sabita Bannerji and Usha Mangeshkar. the song is picturised on Anita Guha and Nirupa Roy. I can identify Nirupa Roy, but I am not sure about Anita Guha. I request our knowledgeable readers to confirm/refute my identification. This song is a sad-happy hong, where Sabita Bannerji sings in a sad tone whereas Usha Mangeshkar’s voice exudes happiness. Sabita Bannerji sings for the lady whom I have provisionally identified as Anita Guha. Usha Mangeskar sings for Nirupa Roy, and people who are used to seeing Nirupa Roy as the long suffering mother of Amitabh Bachchan may get a culture shock realising that Nirupa Roy used to play roles of leading lady and used to lip sync happy songs as well.

Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by S N Tripathi.

You are correct, she is Anita guha sometimes credited as Anita Dutta and another lady with veena in hand when nirupa roy sings is famous character artiste of those times: DULARI or DULARI BAI(4.23)

Is the singer Sabita Bannerji the same as Sabita Choudhary, the wife of MD Salil Chaudhari?
