atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Main kaise keh doon tumse apne dil ki baaten

Posted by: Atul on: January 29, 2012

Just now I came across a fantastic duet song from the era gone by. What a delightful song ! A song like this can magically transport the listeners back in time to those days, even if those days happened to be days before many of us were even born.

This lovely and lively duet is sung by Amirbai Karnataki and Rafi. Movie is called “Jeewan Saathi” (1949). This movie was a Karti Chitra (?) production and it was directed by M Baig. Starcast of the movie included names like Badri Prasad, Sulochana, Jeevan, S. Nazir, Ajit, Mumtaz Ali, Sudha Rao etc.

Lyrics of this song are the soul behind this song as is the music. Lyricist’s name is not known to me and I request our knowledgeable readers to tell us about the lyricist. The wonderful musical score is composed by S Mohinder.

Lyrics

Main kaise keh doon
main kaise keh doon
tumse apne dil ki baaten
dil ki baaten
main kaise keh doon
main kaise keh doon
tumse apne dil ki baaten
dil ki baaten
keh sun lo dil ki
keh sun lo dil ki
hon na hon phir ye mulaaqaaten
ye mulaaqaaten
keh sun lo dil ki

soonee soonee raaton mein jab
kaali ghata chhaa jaaye
neend na aaye
baadal ho ?? tum
darr laage phir
tum hi kaho
koi kit jaaye
kit jaaye
beet na jaaye ye barsaaten
ye barsaaten
beet na jaaye ye barsaaten
ye barsaaten
main kaise keh doon
main kaise keh doon
tumse apne dil ki baaten
dil ki baaten
keh sun lo dil ki
keh sun lo dil ki
hon na ho phir ye mulaaqaaten
ye mulaaqaaten
keh sun lo dil ki

beet gaye ye din sajni
ab rut suhaani aayegi
ab rut suhaani aayegi
mehek uthhengee bagiya man ki
phooli nahin samaayegi
tu phooli nahin samaayegi
khushi mein kategi
khushi ki wo raaten
khushi ki wo raaten
khushi mein kategi
khushi ki wo raaten
khushi ki wo raaten
keh sun lo dil ki
keh sun lo dil ki
hon na hon phir ye mulaaqaaten
ye mulaaqaaten

main kaise keh doon
main kaise keh doon
tumse apne dil ki baaten
dil ki baaten
ham kaise keh den
ham kaise keh den
tumse apne dil ki baaten
dil ki baaten
ham kaise keh den

Atul ji,
Jeewan Sathi-1949 was a KHATRI CHITRA PRODUCTION film.
As per the HFGK, Lyricist Hamid Khumar’s name is mentioned for only 2 of the total 9 songs of the film,so it is difficult to know the name of Lyricist of the above song, where there is no mention of any lyricist for the rest 7 songs.

Arun ji,
This duet is written by Surjeet Sethi.
Almost all songs he wrote in film Neeli (suraiya-Dev 1950) for S. Mohinder.

derubala ji,
Thanks.
Can you please give your source of info for it,so that records are set right ?
As per available records,Surjit Sethi wrote lyrics only for 5 films,namely-
Sehra-48,Nili-50,Bahadur-53,Papi-53 and sau ka note-55.
There is no mention of above film in it.
