Jeene waale muskuraa ke jee

Posted by: Atul on: February 21, 2012

“Chhote Nawaab”(1961) is a movie which was Mehmood’s home production. Produced under the banner of Mumtaz Films, this movie was produced by Usman Ali and directed by S A Akbar. Starcast of the movie included names like Mehmood, Ameeta, Minoo Mumtaz, Helen, Anwar Hussain,Raj Kishore, Raj Dutt, A.R.Bengali, Munshi Munaqqa, Maqbool, Yusuf, Abdul, Mono, Sevanand, Bela Bose, Aruna, Harikishan, Ebrahim, Khursheed Bawra, Pappoo, Altaf, Brij Sharma, S.N.Bannerjee, Nazir Hussain, Achala Sachdev, Kumar etc.

More than the star cast, this movie is of interest to music lovers for its music director. Yes, this was the debut movie of R D Burman as a music director. After assisting his father for years, R D Burman finally got his first break as a music director thanks to the initiative of Mehmood. Though R D Burman did well in this movie, he ironically received no onther movies for the next three years when he was signed up for his second movie, and that movie “Bhoot Bangla” (1965) was also Mehmood’s home production.

It shows that Mehmood has the eye for talent, and music lovers will forever remain uindebted to him for introducing R D Burman to Hindi movie music. As we all know, once R D Burman got going in late 1960s, he redefined Hindi movie music as was then known.

As many as four songs from “Chhote Nawaab” (1961) have already been discussed in the blog. Here is the fifth song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata and Rafi, with a bit of humming by Mehmood. Since Mehmood only hums in this song, so this song is a Rafi Lata duet.

The song is picturised on Helen, Johny Walker and Mehmood, which also makes it a Helen song. Most Helen songs are typically sung by Asha Bhonsle (and earlier Geeta Dutt too), but Lata has also sung some wonderful songs for Helen, and this song is one such songs.

Shailendra is the lyricist of this song.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

jeenewaale
muskuraake jee
khushi ke jaam
muskuraa aur pee
khabar kiss ko
aa aaahaaa
ke kal kyaa ho
ohho aahaaa
arre ye do din ki hai zindagi

khoob hai ye falsafaa
aapkaa
kal ko goli maar do
arre wahha waah
khoob hai ye falsafaa
aapkaa
kal ko goli maar do
arre waahha waah
khoob ho tum
aur kyaa kehne hai
tumhaari mehfil ke ha

jeenewaale
muskuraake jee
khushi ke jaam
muskuraa aur pee
khabar kissko
aaa aahhaaa
ke kal kyaa ho
hhaahhhhaahhaa
arre ye do din ki hai ..zindagi

laakh bach bachke chalo
iss raah par
dhokhaa de hi jaayegi
tumhaari nazar
laakh bach bachke chalo
iss raah par
dhokhaa de hi jaayegi
tumhaari nazar
milti hai manzil
jab chalte hain
do raahi hil milke
jeenewaale
muskuraake jee
khushi ke jaam
muskuraa aur pee
khabar kissko
aaa aahhaaa
ke kal kyaa ho
hhhhhaaaahhhaa
arre ye do din ki hai zindagi

zindagi kyaa cheez hai
kyaa jaano tum
ho sake to khud ko hi
pehchaan tum
haaye haaye
zindagi kyaa cheez hai
kyaa jaano tum
ho sake to khud ko hi
pehchaan tum

patthhar dil tum
kyaa jaano
mehmaan ho
kiss dil ke
jeenewaale
muskuraake jee
khushi ke jaam
muskuraa aur pee
khabar kiss ko
aaa aahhaaa
ke kal kyaa ho
hhhhhaaahhhhaa
arre ye do din ki hai zindagi
