Jaane teri nazron ne kya kar diyaa

Posted by: Atul on: February 25, 2012

“Grihasthi” (1963) was a Gemini combines movie. It was directed by Kishore Sahu. Star cast of this movie included names like Ashok Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Mehmood, Sudesh Kumar, Iftekhar, Bipin Gupta, Pushpavalli, Lalita Pawar, Nirupa Roy, Indrani Mukherjee, Kanhaiyalal, Shobha Khote, Jagirdar, Achla Sachdev, Vandana, Niranjan Sharma, Rajshree etc.

I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from the movie. This song is a Rafi Lata duet. It is picturised on Manoj Kumar and Rajshree as an outdoor singing in the garden song.

Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Ravi is the music director. Or is it Ravi Shankar !? In one site, I read Ravi Shankar’s name as the music director. I request our knowledgeable readers to help clarify matters as far as music directon of this movie is concerned.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Song-Jaane teri nazron ne kya kar diya (Grihasthi)(1963) Singer-Lata, Rafi, MD-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Ravi

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

jaane teri nazron ne kya kar diya
jab tujhe dekhoon mera dhadke jiya
jaane teri nazron ne kya kar diya
jab tujhe dekhoon mera dhadke jiya
toone mohabbat se mera dil bhar diya
apna banaane waale tera shukriya
toone mohabbat se mera dil bhar diya
apna banaane waale tera shukriya

piya jab se hua tera mera milan
mere jeewan mein chamki khushi ki kiran
ae ji ho o o
piya jab se hua tera mera milan
mere jeewan mein chamki khushi ki kiran
ae ji ho o o
din guzarne lage hain teri yaad mein
aur sataati hai raaton ko teri lagan
ae ji ho o o

ud gayi nainon se mere nindiya
jab tujhe dekhoon mera dhadke jiya
toone mohabbat se mera dil bhar diya
apna banaane waale tera shukriya

yeh sama aur yeh mausam mehakta hua
is mein hai rang zaalim tere husn ka
ae ji ho o o

mujhe toone mohabbat sikhaayi balam
warna mere to jeewan mein kuchh bhi na thha
ae ji ho o o
teri adaaon ne mera dil le liya
apna banaane waale tera shukriya

jaane teri nazron ne kya kar diya
jab tujhe dekhoon mera dhadke jiya
toone mohabbat se mera dil bhar diya
apna banaane waale tera shukriya

It’s Ravi! And not Ravi Shankar! ‘Grihasthi’ was quite a box office hit of its time. It’s a remake of the Tamil original, ‘Motor Sundaram Pillai’.
Ashok Kumar and Nirupa Roy are the main characters. Manoj Kumar and Rajshree have supporting roles.

It’s a large happy family. Their daughters Rajshree and Indrani Mukherji marriages have been fixed with Manoj Kumar and Sudesh Kumar respectively. Skeletons tumble out of the closet when it is revealed that Ashok Kumar had married a woman in Burma during the World War II. Believing her to be dead in a Japanese bombing, he had married Nirupa Roy when he settled down in India.

His first wife (actress Devika) had not died! The plot thickens…..
There’s a lovely feet tapping number, “Ding dong ding la la, mera dil ko samhalo mera dil chala…’ sung by Geeta Dutt and picturised on Devika.

Thanks for this clarification. I too have believed so all this while, but one site mentions the name of music director as Ravi Shankar.

Ravi is born Ravi Shankar Sharma, so the MD is Ravi

That is true, but Pt Ravishankar was also a music director of Hindi movies during that period, hence the confusion.

Atulji,
Ravi is the MD of this movie. With my limited knowledge, I know that Ravi Shankar has composed songs of three films – Anuradha(1960), Godaan (1963) & Meera (1979). Arunji, confirmation please.
