In 1965, United Producers and Filmfare conducted an All India Talent Contest. Ten thousand people took part in this contest. The winner of this contest ,called “All India United Producers Talent contest” was to be made the hero of two Hindi movies.
This must be one the pivotal happenings in Hindi movies, because the winner of the contest fully lived up to the expectations. If fact, he exceeded expectations !
Winner of the contest was made the hero of two movies, as promised in the terms and conditions. and these two movies actually became hits. The movies were “Aakhri Khat” (1966) and “Raaz” (1967). And before we knew, whole India was swept under the magical charms of this actor.
Yes, the winner of the talent contest was none other than Rajesh Khanna ! One cannot think of a more fairy tail debut for an actor than his debut, where he wins a contest, becomes hero and a few movies later, he becomes the original superstar of Hindi movies !
Here is a lovely song from “Raaz” (1967). This song is a duet which is sung by Mukesh and Lata. The song is picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Babita. Gulshan Bawra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Lovely Babita and such a dashing young looking Rajesh Khanna. He was totally in command of his performance right from his first movie. There is not one scene in the movie where he looks like a novice. I love all the songs from this movie. The movie was not half bad either.
