Dil waale ab teri galli tak aa pahunche

Posted on: May 7, 2012

“Kaala Paani” (1958) was a Navketan International Production movie. It was directed by Raj Khosla. the movie had Dev Anand, Madhubala, Nalini Jaywant, Sapru, Agha, Nazir Hussain, Krishan Dhawan, Dhiraj, Mukri, Pravin Paul, Heera Sawant, Bir Sakuja, Kishore Sahu, Rashid Khan etc in it.

I have discussed three songs from this movie, and they are all extremely well known songs.

Here is another song from the movie which is relatively less known, at least as far as I am concerned. This song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Dev Anand, Madhubala and a few more actors whom I do not recognise and I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them.

The picturisation of this song is interesting because it shows us Dev Anand dancing. Yes, finding Dev Saab dancing is as rare as finging Raj Kapoor dancing, and these two actors managed to become top actors without having to dance in their movies :) . Perhaps Raj Khosla managed to persuade Dev Saab to dance in this song.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

ab teri gali tak aa pahunche

ho dilwaale ae ae
dilwaale oooo……oooo

saathi dil kaa saath liye
haathon mein ik haath liye

aaa aaa
saathi dil kaa saath liye
haathon mein ik haath liye
raah mein gul khilaate
jhoomte gungunaate
teri nazron ke maathe
haan wahi
dilwaale haaye

dilwaale ae
ab teri gali tak aa pahunche

ho dilwaale ae
dilwaale ae ae
dilwaale

tere dar tak aa hi gaye
aakhir tujhko paa hi gaye
ho o
tere dar tak aa hi gaye
aakhir tujhko paa hi gaye

jinke ghaayal hain dil
jinka tu hai qaatil
jinse bachnaa hai mushkil
haan wohi
dilwaale haaye
dilwaale ae
ab teri gali tak aa pahunche
ho dilwaale
ab teri gali tak aa pahunche

ho dilwaale ae ae
dilwaale o o
dilwaale

While I can’t identify the other two dancers, the older man is Murad.

Murad was not in the film at all.

It is D.K.Sapru and Krishan Dhawan. It is not Murad

Any idea who is the other female dancer ?

I am familiar with the face of Male dancer,
But Sorry, I am not that much familiar with female dancer`s face.I am not that well versed with the faces of 50`s.
(Eventhough female dancer`s face resembles character artiste Dulari or Dulari bai, female dancer can not be DULARI.That one thing is sure)
