Jaane jaan paas aao naa

Posted on: June 15, 2012

“Ye Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke” (1963) was based on a real life public scandal of 1950s, where a naval officer’s European born wife had an affair with her husband’s close friend.

The naval officer killed the man and he was tried for murder in the case known as “K M Nanavati Vs State of Mahatarstra”. This case, which kept media gainfully employed for a considerable period was the last case that was tried in India under the jury sysyem. The jury, influenced by the media coverage acquitted Nanavati. The high court of Mahatrashtra upturned this decision and sentenced Nanavati to life imprisonment. On appeal, the Governor of Maharashtra, no doubt also influenced by media support for Nanavati, pardoned K M Nanavati. K M Nanavati (1923-2003) emigrated to Canada with his wife Sylvie (1931- )and family and they lived a long life in anonymity.

Many books were written about this case. A movie was also made on this subject. This Hindi movie, called “Ye Raaste Hai Pyaar Ke”(1963) was made on this subject but the story was considerably watered down. AS a result, the movie did not live up to the expectations and hype when it was released and the movie deservedly flopped.

The music of the movie were a different matter though. The songs of this music were superb and they make for great listening even today.

The movie had seven songs in it and as many as six of them have already been discussed.

Here is the seventh and final song from the movie. This song has voice of Sunil Dutt as well as that of Asha Bhonsle. Sunil Dutt utters some sentences and that is followed by Asha Bhonsle’s singing and that continues three times. Sunil Dutt’s utterances in the song have earned him the credit of being a “singer” of this song along with Asha Bhonsle.

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and music is composed by Ravi.

Here is this sensuous and romantic song from “Ye Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke”. Only the audio of this song is available, but it is obvious that the song was picturised on Sunil Dutt and Leela Naidu.
PS-Thanks to the link provided by Mr Sadanand Kamath, now I know that the video of this song is also available.

Lyrics

jaane jahaan
paas aao
aao na
kya kahaa
un hoon
soch lo
ye hawaayen kyaa kahengi
ye nazaare kya kahenge
do jawaan dil
agar door door
chal rahe hain
apni apni khaaq mein
aao na

hawaaon ko dekho
nazaaron ko dekho
jo mujhse hain badhke haseen
mera husn to hai nigaahon ka dhokha
ye dhokha na khaana kahin

jaane bahaar
jaane jigar
raks ki in chanchal lehron mein
kyun na ham donon beh jaaye
chhillaane do in saanson ko
ham chupke se kuchh keh jaayen
aur zara jo
paas aa jaao
ghulti milti
in saanson ki khushboo
jeewan jyot banegi
preet ha ha hansegi
hai na

ye saanson ki khushboo
ye baaton ka jaadoo
ye saazish hai halaat ki
ye naghmon ki baarish
ye saazon ki halchal
hai bas ek hi raat ki

ye khaamoshi
ye aadhi raat
chaand ki aandhi
uljhan uljhan
aise mein kyun na ham donon
chalte jaayen
badhte jaayen
aur jahaan aakaash zameen se mil jaaye
dam tod den ham donon
subah sawere
koi farishta sair ko aaye
dekhe do thhandi laashon ko
aur shabnam ke qatre chunkar
unko ek qafan pehna de

mera is safar mein ye pehla qadam hai
chaloongi jidhar le chalo
na raahon se waaqif
na maaloom manzil
main hoon bekhabar
le chalo
main hoon bekhabar
le chalo
main hoon bekhabar
le chalo
aa haa haa haa
aa haa haa

Once upon Sunil Dutt name used to be Balraj Dutt, as an announcer on Radio Ceylon during Hindi program.
This song was semi-popular during radio days. I remember putting my ears to the speaker of radio to listen Sunil Dutt voice & his wordings.
Those days actor voice, one can hear only during his/her movie…so to hear them on Radio was it like a special treat.
