Posted on: July 2, 2012

“Chhoti Behan” (1959) was a Prasad Productions movie. It was produced and directed by L V Prasad. The movie had Balraj Sahni, Nanda, Rehman, Shyama, Veena, Mehmood, Shubha Khote, Badri Prasad, Dhumal, Radha Kishan, Sudesh Kumar, Kanchanmala, Hari Sivadasani, Keshav Rana, Sheila Vaz, Jeevan Kala, Munni, Kathana etc in it.

This movie had some nice songs in it. The most well known song from this movie is the iconic rakhi festival song namely Bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana. As many as five songs from this movie, including this song have been discussed in the past.

Here is another song from “Chhoti Behan”(1959). It is sung by Lata and chorus. It is picturised as a “jhoola” song on Nanda and others.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Song-Baaghon mein bahaaron mein ithlaata gaata aaya koyi (Chhoti Behan)(1959) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Chorus

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

baaghon mein bahaaron mein
ithlaata gaata aaya koyi
naazuk naazuk kaliyon ke
dil ko dhadkaata aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi hoye
baaghon mein bahaaron mein ithlaata gaata aaya koyi
naazuk naazuk kaliyon ke dil ko dhadkaata aaya koyi

bheeni hawa oodi ghata
kahe tere aangan mein barsega pyaar
phoolon ke haar
le ke bahaar
karne ko aayi mere solah singaar
rangon ki umangon ki
gaagar chhalkaata aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi hoye
baaghon mein bahaaron mein ithlaata gaata aaya koyi
naazuk naazuk kaliyon ke dil ko dhadkaata aaya koyi

sapnon ke jaal rangeen khayaal
de ke hichkole kahen aankhen na khol
dil ki yeh baat
dil ka yeh raaz
jaane na jaane koyi
tu kuchh na bol
aankhon se ishaaron se
sab kuchh samjhaata aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi hoye
baaghon mein bahaaron mein ithlaata gaata aaya koyi
naazuk naazuk kaliyon ke dil ko dhadkaata aaya koyi

chhaaya hai aaj
rimjhim ka raag
phir bhi hai mere dil ko utna hi gham
sakhiyon se door
apnon se door
kise hai khabar
kal kahaan honge hum
uljhan ki deewaaron se
dil ko takraata aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi
aaya koyi hoye
baaghon mein bahaaron mein ithlaata gaata aaya koyi
naazuk naazuk kaliyon ke dil ko dhadkaata aaya koyi

This is a sweet song and is a turning point in the story of ‘Chhoti Behan’. Nanda is on the swing and her friends push her higher and higher. She is flung from the swing and she loses her eyesight………..

Atul ji, Atif Bhai,

Thanks for posting this wonderful favorite. And I am surprised this lovely song was not already posted. Well good that it is now. The melody is so sweet.

Atifbhai,
Very melodious “Jhoola” song. Bachpan mein radio pe bahot baar suna tha. Thanks for posting. BTW, congratulations on reaching 150th post. Your contribution & selection of songs is fantastic.

Sorry Atif Bhai,
Wish karne mein deri ho gayee,
“Congratulations” on reaching 150th song. And

Thank you
Khyati ji for noticing Atif Bhai`s 150th song.

In fact, this song is one of my favourite lata Song.

Regards
Prakash

Yes indeed, it is an awesome song. One of my favourites too. Back in the last century, my eldest brother acquired a bunch of 78 rpm records from a friend of his, and guess what, this lot contained among others a record of Chhoti Bahen’s. It only had four songs in it and did not include this one :-(

I heard it much later (i think off the net) and immediately liked it.

Oops, I didn’t realise myself that the 150 mark has been arrived at. Thanks Khyati for pointing it out (and the congrats). By coincidence or by intention, Atul has selected a song befitting the occasion.

Prakashchandra, thank you indeed for the wishes, although no formalities required. We are all like a family of friends here in this blog. You yourself crossed the 150-mark and I didn’t wish anything. Talk about embarrassing, yeah.

SK, thanks for liking this song, this just tells what a fantastic taste you have.

Thanks Atif Bhai
For “Heart felt & Heart touching”reactions.I don`t know How much correct my English usage is???
If anything mistake is there in my English usage, Please correct me.

Regards
Prakash

PC, although I am not in a position to give verdicts on such matters but I’d say your English usage is just fine.

This movie was very famous and a huge hit.
I think all most all the population at that time of India has seen this movie during 1959. And Lataji peak her popularity at the highest level.
