Banaa ke kyun bigaada re bigaada re naseebaa

Posted on: August 7, 2012

Today (7 august) is the third death anniversary of Gulshan Kumar Mehta, better known as Gulshan Baawra. Gulshan Baawra (April 12, 1937- August 7, 2009) had written some memorable lyrics in Hindi movies. As a lyricist, he mostly worked with Kalyanji Anandji.

Though he was mainly a lyricist, he has in fact acted in a song picturisation too. This was in the well known song Deewaane hain deewaanon ko na ghar chaahiye (Zanjeer) where he lip syncs in Rafi’s voice.

The songs of “Zanjeer” (1973) were written by Gulshan Bawra, of course.

On the occasion of Gulshan Bawra’s death anniversary, here is another song from “Zanjeer” (1973). This song is sung by Lata and it is lip synced by Jaya Bhaduri. Kalyanji Anandji is the music director.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Banaa ke kyun bigaada re bigaada re naseebaa (Zanjeer) (1973) Singer-Lata, lyrics-Gulshan Baawra, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

banaake kyun bigaada re
ae ae ae
banaa ke kyun bigaada re
ae ae
bigaada re naseeba
upar waale
upar waale
banaa ke kyun bigaada re
ae ae
bigaada re naseeba
upar waale
upar waale
banaa ke kyun bigaada re
ae ae

jo tujh ko manzoor nahin thha
phool khile is pyaar ke
phir kyun toone in aankhon ko
rang dikhaaye bahaar ke
aas bandhaa ke pyaar jataa ke
bigaada re naseeba
upar waale
upar waale
banaa ke kyun bigaada re
ae ae

paap kare insaan agar to
wo paapi kehlaata hai
toone bhi ye paap kiya phir
kaise kahoon tu daata hai
raah dikhaa ke
raah pe laa ke
bigaada re naseeba
upar waale
upar waale
banaa ke kyun bigaada re
bigaada re naseeba
upar waale
upar waale
banaa ke kyun bigaada re

This is a lovely song. Just the song you like to sing when you are sad.

In Hindi movies, a sad song quickly gives way to an action scene. :)

Atul ji,
His name was GULSHAN MEHTA and not Mehra.
He was born in Shekhupua near Lahore,on 11-4-1939.During the partition riots, his parents and brother were killed before his eyes.He came to Jaipur to his sister and did a job in Railways.
He died on 7-8-2009 at Mumbai, after a long illness.

Yes :) especially the post Amit phase in movies surely moved on pretty fast. No time to be sad for long. I caught the scenes from this movie just after this song today on the TV blaring in our office canteen.

That was when Amit is released from the jail and is very despondent. And Jaya talks to Pran about it “woh ukhde ukhde rehte hain” and that’s when he sing “Yaari hai imaan mera”

Things do happen pretty fast in Zanjeer

Gulshan Bawra liked to act. ZANZEER’s song was not the only song he lip synced. Arunji will be able to give a full list. He has acted as a comedian too in a film of two.

Gupta ji,
Starting with ‘UPKAR’,he has done bit roles in about 30 odd films, some of them being-Teen chor,Gehri chaal,Jwar Bhata,Zutha kahin ka,Zanzeer,Jawani,Sassi punnu(punjabi etc etc.

Some more films of GB-
Aahat,Biwi ho to aisi,English babu Desi mem,Ganwaar,jaane anjaane,pavitra papi,Prabhaat,Ulfat ki nayi manzilein.

In this Dulha Dulhan song (from 4:18 to 4:23) a young Gulshan Bawra dances and whistles(the guy with black shirt) alongwith Raj kapoor,Agha and Sadhana.Gulshan Bawra himself written this song.(music:Kalyanji Anandji)

Boxer 1983:Music:R.D.Burman:
Again in this song Gulshan bawra is there dancing alongwith Rati Agnihotri(at 0:53 and 1:55 onwards). In this case also Gulshan Bawra himself written this Kishore Kumar solo song.

Atul ji had already covered Gulshan Bawra ji` earlier works:Shaahi Lutera(1965)(3 Songs)( I don`t know from when Gulshan Bawra began hindi movie songs,Songs of Shaahi lutera may be one of his earlier works)

(His collaboration with Bulo.C.Rani)

Prakash ji,
Gulshan bawra started writing for films with CHANDRASENA-1959 and ended with ZULMEE-1999.,
In these 40 years,he wrote around 240 songs for about 100 films. This low score for 40 years ,according to him,was due to non-compromise on quality. My good songs,he had said, are promptly murdered by Director, choreographer and the composer, hence I have not written any good song for last 15 years,he said in 1997 in one interview.
he had got FF award for Upkar(Mere desh ki dharati) in 1967 and Zanjeer(Yaari hai imaan mera) in 1971.M.P.Govt had announced his name for ” Kishore kumar Samman “,but he died before receiving it.
