atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Kaanta laago re sajanwaa

Posted on: September 14, 2012

“Basant” (1942) was a Bombay Talkies production. It was directed by Amiya Chakraborty. The movie had Ulhas, Mumtaz Shanti, Mumtaz Ali,Pramila, Jagannath, Suresh, Baby Mumtaz (Madhubala), Kanu Roy, Pithawala etc in it.

I had previously discussed a song from this movie which was erroneously described by most sources as sung by Parul Ghosh but it was actually sung by Amirbai Karnataki. It turned out that HFGK, who originally attributed that song to Parul Ghosh had corrected it in its corrigendum, mentioning that the song was sung by Amirbai Karnataki. Another comment mentioned that this movie had different singers singing for different actors so if the video was available then identifying the voice was easy.

Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Arun Kumar and Parul Ghosh. This time the female voice indeed belongs to Parul Ghosh. Moreover, the video of this song is also available. It was mentioned by Derubala ji in the comment to the above mentioned song that Arun Kumar sang for Mumtaz Ali and Parul Ghosh sang for Mumtaz Shanti. I request the knowledgeable readers to look at the picturisation and identify the actors on whom this song is picturised.

PS-It is picturised on Ulhas and Mumtaz Shanti.

These nice romantic song is written by P L Santoshi. Music is composed by Pannalal Ghosh.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

kaliya chunne chali malaniya
kaanton se ghabraaye
kaliya chunne chali malaniya
kaanton se ghabraaye
sukh woh kaise paaye baawri
sukh woh kaise paaye baawri
dukh se jo dar jaaye
sukh woh kaise paaye baawri

gali gali mein kaante hai
jo kali kali bann jaayen
gali gali mein kaante hai
jo kali kali bann jaaye

phir matt kehna kabhi sajaniya
raah chali na jaaye
phir matt kehna kabhi sajaniya
raah chali na jaaye

In my opinion, this song is shot on the lead pair Ulhas and Mumtaz Shanti.

Thanks for this information.
