atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Nainon ke ye do panchhi

Posted on: October 11, 2012

Today (11 October) is the 70th birth anniversary of Amitabh Bachchan. He was born this day in 1942.

Today he is a well established legend, but his beginnings were quite shaky and uninspiring. In fact, he had delivered a string of flop movies and he was on the verge of packing up and going back when “Zanjeer” (1973) was released and it became a hit. And after that Amitabh Bachchan did not have to look back.

On this occasion we may as well discuss a few well known songs from his hit movies, but we do not just discuss well known songs from hit movies in this blog. We also like to look for forgotten songs from flop movies.

“Bansi Birju” (1972) was one of those movies which had convinced most trade observers, and in fact Amitabh Bachchan himself that his days at the industry were numbered. The movie deserved to be a flop and it did so.

This movie was produced and directed by Prakash Verma. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, Rajan Haksar,Ramesh Deo,Junior Mehmood, Jamaal, K.N.Singh, Nigar Sultana, Asha Chandra, Anwar Ali, Yunus Parvez, Dolly, Amrit Patel, Dharmavir, Mridula, Madhukar, Maruti junior, Shah Agha, Suryakant Mehta, Preetam, Mona, Kalpana Dewan, Deepak, Kapoor Y N etc in it.

We have often seen that even flop movies often had nice music in them. Same can be said about the music of “Bansi Birju”. It is just that few people had the opportunity of listening to the music is this movie because the movie flopped and people lost interest in it.

Here is a forgotten song from “Bansi Birju” (1972). It is sung by Manna Dey. It is picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri. Yogesh is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vijay Raghav Rao.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

If you have never heard this song before (like what was the case with me till today), then you need to listen to it a couple of times and then the song will grow on you. In fact that is how songs become popular and this song did not get the opportunity to become popular during its time.

Song-Nainon ke ye do panchhi (Bansi Birju)(1972) Singer-Manna Dey, Lyrics-Yogesh, MD-Vijay Raghav Rao

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

hmmm hmmmm
hmmm hmm hmm hmm
aaa aaa aaa aaaaa aaaa
ho o o o o o
nainon ke yeh do panchhi
uljhe hain wahaan par jaake
dulhan si jahaan baithee hai
yeh raat sharmaake
ho o o o o
nainon ke yeh do panchhi

kaliyon se tan ko sanwaare
aanchal mein lekar taare
aayee hai ye matwaali
ankhiyon mein kajraa ghole
raahon mein halke halke
rukti hai jab woh chalke
usski kunwaari pyaari
haay re paayal yoon bole
aisee nasheeli bansi
halki si koyee dhun chhede
jo door kahin mausam mein
ho jaaye lehraa ke
ho o o o o
nainon ke yeh do panchhi

anjaane sapne bunn kar
shabnam ke moti chunkar
apne sajnaa se jaakar
milne ki batiyaan soche
tan se bhi udkar aagey
chanchal mann pehle bhaage
kitnaa bhi ab deewaanee
chaahe iss mann ko roke
ho jaaye mann bandi
yaadon ke haseen pinjre mein
masoom khayaalon mein jab
ho jaaye ghabraa ke
ho o o o o
nainon ke yeh do panchhi
uljhe hain wahaan par jaake
dulhan si jahaan baithee hai
yeh raat sharmaake
nainon key ye do panchhi
