Teri patli kamar teri baali umar

Posted on: October 31, 2012

“Dus Lakh” (1966) was a Goel Cine Corporation movie. It was produced and directed by Devendra Goel. The movie had Sanjay Khan, Babita, Pran, Helen, Manorama, Om Prakash, Ramesh Deo, Seema, Parvin Paul, Master Ripple, Baby Sonia, Bramhachari, Hari Shivdasani, Shefali Chowdhry, Mool Chand etc in it.

I never got to watch this movie during its first run but its songs were hugely popular with music lovers. The song “gareebon ki suno” was on every lips, especially those of pre teen kids like me.

One song from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is a song from this movie which I had never heard before. This song is a duet sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised on Om Prakash and Manorama who played aged lovers out to enjoy themselves like youngsters.

Enjoying themselves was considered to be the preserve of young couple those days and oldtimers were supposed to be over the hill. and therefore an old couple out to enjoy themselves has been depicted as a comedy song in this movie. Now, when I am no longer a pre teen kid, I do not agree that one is too old for romantic thoughts and activities as the ages of Om Prakash and Manorama. ;) And I disagree that a lady must be slim with slim waist and young age to entertain romantic feelings.

Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravi.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

teri patli kamar teri baali umar
teri baanki ada pe hum qurbaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan
yahan health bhi hai yahan wealth bhi hai
love ka season dil mein armaan
arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan
arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan

tere god se hum ko chance mila
ek brand new romance mila

bachpan mein kabaddi kheli thi
ab karne ko english dance mila
tere god se hum ko chance mila
ek brand new romance mila

bachpan mein kabaddi kheli thi
ab karne ko english dance mila
tum hum pe mara hum tum pe mara
yun luck se luck milta hai kahan

arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan
arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan
teri patli kamar teri baali umar
teri baanki ada pe hum qurbaan
arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan
arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan

love ka chashma kya laga liya
lagti duniya badli badli

sab kahen tumhen moti moti
mujh ko lagti patli patli
how sweet
love ka chashma kya laga liya
lagti duniya badli badli

sab kahen tumhen moti moti
mujh ko lagti patli patli
good fella hai tum
meri laila hai tum
aisa majnoo milta hai kahaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan
teri patli kamar teri baali umar
teri baanki ada pe hum qurbaan
arrey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawaan

pehle kewal jal peete thhe
ab peete hain soda whiskey
pehle kewal jal peete thhe
ab peete hain soda whiskey
jab hamra tumra aankh lada
chadh gayi pant dhoti khiski
new life mili

new wife mili
oh no no no no abhi kahaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan
arey tum bhi jawan aur hum bhi jawan

teri patli kamar teri baali umar
teri baanki ada pe hum qurbaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan
arrey tum bhi jawaan aur hum bhi jawaan

Atul ji,

No comments. Other than I must say that you are elegantly maturing very conveniently. :D

Sudhir

This movie has some really nice Asha & Rafi, and Asha & Usha Mangeshkar numbers.

A perfect song to prove-
Pyaar mein do aatmaaon ka milan (matching) hona jaruri hai, baaki jism (size) mein kya rakkha hai!
I have seen this movie looooooong back on DD, may be in 70s, so don’t remember if they really get married or not. Hope it was not like “pyaar andha hota hai, lekin shaadi aankh khol deti hai” for them.
Thanks Atulji and Atifji for the song.

Thanks for liking.

This could be classified & tagged as a Hinglish song.
