Aayi deewaali deep jalaao

Posted on: November 13, 2012

Today (13 november 2012) is Deewaali, the festival of light. This is the fifth Deewaali festival for this blog, which is quite an achievement for us, seeing that this blog has not just survived for such a long time, but has in fact progressed and thrived. Now it has become an online collaboration of likeminded music lovers who are contributing their mite and that is helping build up a valuable online musical repository.

On the occasion of Deewaali, here is a non film song for the occasion. This song is sung by Juthika Roy, a leading bhajan singer of 1940s and 1950s. I am not much aware about the details of this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this song as far as its lyricist and music director are concerned.

I take this opportinity to wish all the regular of this blog a very happy deewaali and a prosperous new year.

Song-Aayi deewaali deep jalaao(Juthika Rai NFS)(1950)Singer-Juthika Roy

Lyrics

aayi
aayi deewaali
deep jalaao
man ke roothe saajan ko
main phir se
phir se manaaun
lukchup lukchup raah nihaaroon
nain ka kaajal maang sanwaaroon
lukchup lukchup raah nihaaroon
nain ka kaajal maang sanwaaroon
sakhiyon ke taanon se bachkar
man hi man muskaaun
man hi man muskaaun
man ke roothe saajan ko
main phir se
phir se manaaun

mast pawan chupke se aati ee
na jaane kya kaan mein kehti
mast pawan chupke se aati ee
na jaane kya kaan mein kehti
ye to hain sab roz ki baaten
kaise bhed bataaun
kaise bhed bataaun
man ke roothe saajan ko
main phir se
phir se manaaun

?? ne aangan chamkaaya
phoolon ne gharbaar sajaaya
main saajan ke path par kyun na
apne nain bichaaun
man ke roothe saajan ko
main phir se
phir se manaaun
aayi
aayi deewaali
deep jalaao
man ke roothe saajan ko
main phir se
phir se manaaun
aayi deewaali
aayi deewaali
deep jalaao
