Please any one who know the meaning of 2nd stanza of this Bhajan, please give us the translation,
I don`t know the meaing of following words: Chhane and chhavne

Wah wah! It’s such a pleasure listening to this Meera ;bhajan’. Even though M S Subbalakshmi had immortalised the Meera ‘bhajans’ in the eponymous ‘Meera’ made in the 1940s, Vani Jairam has done justice with her clear mellifluous voice and her effortless rendering.of the ‘bhajans’. Not many know that the makers of this movie had approached Lata Mangeshkar to sing these songs. She,as is her wont, had thrown a tantrum. She had demanded that her brother Hridhayanath Mangeshkar compose the music for the movie. Ultimately, her loss was Vani Jairam’s gain. And Vani got to sing the ‘bhajans’ set to beautiful music by Pandit Ravi Shankar!

Maniji,
What we heard was quite different. In the beginning Laxmi-Pyare were MD for this movie. Lata refused to sing because she already sang so many Meera bhajans (NFS).Without her LP rejected to compose the music. So came Pt. Ravi Shankar.
This is what came in the newspaper before the release of the movie. Both replacements proved to be successful.

Love to listen to “Meera” songs in the morning. Vani Jairam and Pt Ravi Shankar!!! All bhajans are best, my fav being “ai ri main to prem diwaani….” The aalap VJ starts, makes you cry.

Thanks Prakashji and Atulji.

Khyati ji

Aapne meri feelings ko shadon kaa roop diyaa hai, Thanks for that.

Regards
Prakash

Pardon me. The singing of Vani Jayaram is fine, though it doesn’t have the intensity and passion of MS. However, Hemamalini is a pale, pastel imitation compared to MS 50 or 60 (or more) years ago.

Mere closing of eyes doesn’t convey the bhakti that is being portrayed here.

True. Very true, Krishna Pillalamarri-ji! Hema Malini may have looked oh-so-gorgeous but M S Subbalakshmi had ‘bhakti’ glowing around her in every scene of the movie.
