atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Dil lagaa ke qadar gayi pyaare

Posted on: December 2, 2012

“Kaala Paani” (1958) was a Navketan Production movie. It was directed by Raj Khosla. The movie had Dev Anand, Madhubala, Nalini Jaywant, Agha, Kishore Sahu, Rashid Khan, Mukri, Krishna Dhawan, Jankidas, D K Sapru etc in it.

As many as five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from this movie.

This song is sung b Asha Bhonsle with S D Burman uttering a few words. The song is picturised as a mujra song. I am not familar with the mujra dance performers who perform for their clients which includes Dev Aannd too. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the two mujra dancers who lip sync in Asha Bhonsle’s voice.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Mr Sadanand Kamath.

Song-Dil lagaa ke qadar gayi pyaare (Kaala Paani)(1958) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, S D Burman, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-S D Burman

Lyrics(Provided by Sadanand Kamath)

qadar gayi pyaare
dil lagaa ke
dil lagaa ke
dil lagga ke

Asha Bhonsle lip syncs for Nalini Jaywant. I am not able to identify the other dancer. Probably she may be Heera Sawant.

In gitaayan.com, the male voice has been credited to S D Burman.

Thanks for the information. Let me listen to the song again to check if the male voice sounds like S D Burman’s.

Atul ji,
HFGK clearly says that the song is sung by Asha and S.D.Burman.

Thanks for the information.

Being an ardent fan (even you can call me an air-conditioner) of jaidev-ji, I could not resist a tidbit heard from one of the old time musicians who played during ‘Kaala Paani’ songs.
Jaidev-ji was assisting Burman dada in those days, before he became an independent Music Director. The arrangement of this song and even the tune seems very likely of Jaidev-ji, as it is very apparent from the style and instrumentation of his subsequent compositions which came later.
I grabbed this tidbit and even used it in my program, that I gave in a local club, siting some more samples of songs, which had a stamp of Jaidev-ji in Films by Burman dada.
With full respect for Burman dada, I give him credit for getting assistance from Assistant Music Directors. (Another example:- Goan music predominant in Film “Jaal’, where N Dutta was his assistant.)
After all, what are the ‘Assistant Music Directors’ for?

I think so too…if I campare with mujhe jino do…

All songs posted.

Thanks for the information.

I was just going to write to check if we have covered all songs, and I find your comment :) . Thank you Arun Ji.
