Arre roothhe hain to maan jaayenge

Posted on: December 3, 2012

“Kalabaaz” (1977) was a Pashupati Pictures (Pvt) Limited production. It was produced by Yash Kohli and directed by Ashok Roy. The movie had Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman, Pradeep Kumar, Asrani, Sujit Kumar, A.K.Hangal, Tarung Ghosh, Hercules, Dev Kumar, Maruti, Lalita Kumari, Manik Dutt, Madhup Sharma, Ram Mohan, Mohan Sherry, Rajan Haksar, Probhir Roy, Rajan Kapoor, Raj Puri, Darshan Arora, Major Anand, Gopal Bhutani, Mohd.Ali, Keshav Rana, Shobha, Vikas Anand, Prem Singh, Subhash, Ramesh Goel, Amika Johar(In a Special appearance) etc in it.

On the occasion of Dev Anand’s first death anniversary today (3 december 2012), here is a song from “Kalabaaz” (1977). I had neither awre of this movie not this song. But this song, which is sung by Kishore Kumar is picturised interestingly. The picturisation shows an elephant walking behind Zeenat Aman throughout the song like a roadside Romeo. The elephant in fact enters a restaurant too when Zeenat Aman enters there, much to the discomfiture of people assembled there. :)

Dev Saab is there too in the picturisatio ofcourse. Who do you think lip sync this song in Kishore Kumar’s voice otherwise. :)

I am happy to see an elephant in a song picturisation . That makes this song qualify to be called as an elephant song. That reminds me, I have not discussed my dogs for quite some time. It is time I discussed their latest activities even if I am unable to locate any suitable dog songs to go with the details.

Coming back to this song, Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Song-Arre roothhe hain to maan jaayenge (Kalabaaz)(1977) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

arre roothe hain toh maan jaayenge
roothe hain toh maan jaayenge
mere pyaar ko woh jaan jaayenge
kissee mod par
woh gussa chhodkar
sahi raste pe aayenge
kahaan jaayenge
woh jahaan jaayenge
peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
arre peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
arre roothe hain toh maan jaayenge

lagta hai woh sadak pe nahin
mere dil pe chal rahe hain
mere pyaar ke nashe mein hain chhoor
phir bhi sambhal rahe hain
kabhi na kabhi
kahin na kahin
kabhi na kabhi
kahin na kahin
woh ladkhadaayenge
kahaan jaayenge
woh jahaan jaayenge
peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
arre roote hain toh maan jaayenge
ae hey

main hoon unnkaa
woh hain mere
haan ye paighaam likhaa hai
kaaghaz pe nahin
dil pe hamne
yeh unnkaa naam likhaa hai
bhoolenge hamein
woh kiss tarhaa
bhoolenge hamein

woh kiss tarhaa
hum yaad aayenge
kahaan jaayenge
woh jahaan jaayenge
peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
arre roote hain toh maan jaayenge..
hey hey

mat pooochho inn haseenon ki baat
aashiq machhalte rehate hain
mausam ke saath
din aur raat
yeh bhi badalte rehte hain
honthon pe abhi
aayegi hansi
honthon pe abhi
aayegi hansi
woh muskuraayenge
kahaan jaaynege
woh jahaan jaayenge
peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
arre roothe hain toh maan jaayenge
mere pyaar ko woh jaan jaayenge
issee mod par
woh gussa chhodkar
sahi raste pe aayenge
kahaan jaaynege
woh jahaan jaayenge
peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
arre peechhe peechhe hum aayenge
haa…haaa…aaaaaa

thank you Atul & PCji for this song.
had seen this movie ages ago on DD. i vaguely remember that the hero & heroine are trapeze artists in this movie. something happens & a different Zeenat takes over. the second one tries to entice Dev Anand who is still in mourning over the first one. and we have another lovely song “Pyara Pyara Sama Hai Pyar Kar Le” sung solo first by Lata & then by Kishore kumar

@Prakashji @Atul ji – thanks ! Nice post !
Atul ji – in the index of ‘list of songs movie-wise’ the title needs to be corrected as ‘Kalabaaz’ (it is appearing as ‘Kalbaaz’ now)
