Saawan ban gaye nain piyaa bin

Posted on: January 21, 2013

“Krorepati”(1961) was a Saigal Brothers Production. It was produced by Om Prakash Saigal and directed by Mohan Saigal. The movie had Kisore Kumar, Shashikala, Kum Kum, K. N. Singh, Anoop Kumar, Mirza Musharaff, Radhakishan, Haroon, S. Bannerjee, Ramlal, Shamlal, Brahm Bharadwaj, Daya Devi, Pal Sharma, Prem, Dev Chand etc in it.

As many as eight songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the ninth song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on a melancholic Shashikala, with Kishore Kumar also visible in the picturisation.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Is this the last song from this movie or are there some more songs left to be discussed from the movie ? I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.
PS-With this song, now all the songs of this movie have been covered in the blog.

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

haaye saawan ban gaye nain
saawan ban gaye nain
saawan ban gaye nain piya bin
saawan ban gaye nain
ho barsat hain din rain
soona soona ghar hai balam bin
soone hain din rain
ho poochho na ji ke bain
ho saawan ban gaye nain

nain hamaare ganga jamuna
baadal se yeh hargiz kam na
mushkil hai ansuan ka thamna
mushkil hai ansuan ka thamna
kat’ti nahin mose birha ki rain
saawan ban gaye nain piya bin
saawan ban gaye nain
ho barsat hain din rain
ho saawan ban gaye nain

dil ke chhaale phoot gaye hain
pyaar ke taare toot gaye hain
chor mere man loot gaye hain
chor mere man loot gaye hain
milta nahin mujh abhaagan ko chain
saawan ban gaye nain piya bin
saawan ban gaye nain
ho barsat hain din rain
soona soona ghar hai balam bin
soone hain din rain
ho poochho na ji ke bain
ho saawan ban gaye nain

Atul ji,
All the 9 songs of KROREPATI-61,for which records were issued have been posted.
However,HFGK lists one more song- Aye aasman ke raahi,tu hi gavah rehna… for which there is no singer’s name nor any record No. is given.
So,either it was only in the film or no details are available of it in HFGK.

Thanks for this information. I have subsequently read here that the lines
“Ai aasamaan ke raahi too hi gavaah rahanaa
Thamataa nahin hai kabase in aansu_on kaa bahanaa
Teraa agar guzar ho is desh ki taraf se
Koi tadap rahaa hai itanaa hi unase kahanaa”

are the initial lines of the song “saawan ban gaye nain piya bin”.

That being the case, there are only nine songs in the movie and so all the songs have now been discussed.

Beautiful song,Music director Ramlal said he played shehnayee for this song in one of his interview.
