Pehli na doosri teesri pasand hai

Posted on: February 10, 2013

“Mad Bhare Nain”(1955) was a Fortune Films unit production. It was directed by Hem Chunder. The movie had Kishore Kumar, Bina Rai, Misra, Badri Prasad, David Abraham, Durga Khote, Yashodhara Katju, N. Hussain, Achla Sachdev, Bhupendra Kapoor etc in it.

This movie is surprisingly little known. I have discovered just now that this movie is a treasure trove of some great songs.

Here is a lovely song from “Mad Bhare Nain” (1955). This song had Kishore Kumar at his romantic and playful best. Shailendra is the lyricist and music is composed by S D Burman.

Only the audio of this song is available but it is clear from the star cast that this song was picturised in the movie on Kishore Kumar himself.

I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this song as well as on the movie.

Song-Pehli na doosri teesri pasand hai (Mad Bhare Nain)(1955) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-S D Burman

Lyrics

pehli na doosri
teesri pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam
meri
o meri shaadi ka kar do intazaam
poorbi na paschimi
Laxmi pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam
meri
o meri shaadi ka kar do intazaam
pehli na doosri
teesri pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam

ghar mein tum hanso to diye ke bina ho roshni
ghar mein tum hanso
he he ha ha
ghar mein tum hanso to diye ke bina ho roshni
chaandni ho na ho
har ek raat rahe roshni
ab to har ek haal mein zindagi pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam
meri
o meri shaadi ka kar do intazaam

jeet ho to jeet
haar ho to maan logi tum
keh do dhoop chhaaon ki ye gali pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam
meri
arre meri shaadi ka kar do intazaam

koi jaa kaho ki unki haan ka intazaar hai
koi jaa kaho
koi jaa kaho ki unki haan ka intazaar hai
doctor bhi laailaaz marz ka shikaar hai
mujhko ye tadap ye dil ki bekali pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam
meri
o meri shaadi ka kar do intazaam
pehli na doosri
teesri pasand hai
shaadi ka kar do intazaam
meri
o meri shaadi ka kar do intazaam

Atul ji,
MADBHARE NAIN-1955 was a light comedy dealing in young hearts and their love. The entire story-or atleast the major part takes place in beautiful Darjeeling. This was a film which can be called as a precursor to such films as ‘Love in Simla’, “Jab pyar kisise hota hai”, Dil deke dekho and the likes of them which were films without much of a story but good locales, good songs good actors and comedy se bharpoor scenes, which were a rage in the 60s and 70s.
The film was directed by a veteran who was well known in Bangla film industry-Hem Chander.he started his career in Calcutta with a small role in Chasher meye-1931.Then he joined new Theatres and worked as assistant director to premankur Atorthy for “Karvaan e hayat”,a Saigal film.
He gave direction independently to Ananth Ashram-1937 a hit film in those days.He has directed about 25 films in Hindi and Bangla. His last Hindi film was ‘Bandhan’-1956 and last bangla film in 1960.
The story of the film was witten by R.L.Anand who also was the producer of the film. The music was by S D Burman and his asst. Suhrid Kar.
Shyam is the darling nephew of seth Ramprasad(David) and Leelavati(Durga Khote). They were an ideal couple but had a fight on the subject of marriage of Shyam(Kishore Kumar). While Leelavati had selected a girl, whom she met as an election Volunteer,Ramprasad had selected friend Kedarnath’s daughter whom he had seen only in her childhood. Both had a fight over this.Fed up of this,Shyam decides to go to Darjeeling. In the train compartment he finds Malati(Bina Rai) who has run away from home to avoid marriage with an unknown man. They do not get on well firstbut due to the perseverence of Shyam, soon the are in deep love with each others and sing many songs around trees and near riverbank and such other scenic spots.unfortunately the music is not upto the mark.looks like instead of dada,S.kar managed the music.
Anyway, the parents of Malthi, kedarnath(Nazir Hussain) and mother (Achla Sachdev) go to police and come to darjeeling with police to get malti. The love birds run away.To cut the long story short, soon it is revealed that everybody had suggested the same girl Malti for Shyam.
All 4 parents are happy, the couple is happier and the Police are the happiest having solved a case successfully !
