Ye kiya toone kaisa jaadoo

Posted on: March 5, 2013

“Zimbo” (1958) was a Basant Pictures production. It was directed by Homi Wadia. The movie had Azad, Azad, Krishna Kumari, Adeeb, Achla Sachdev, Sheikh, Dalpat, Pedro, B M Vyas, Sardar Mansoor, Habib etc in it.

I am not much familiar with this movie. Going by the picturisation of this song, I guess that Zimbo (played by Azaad) is a Tarzan like character who is brought up by wild animals. If he is a Tarzan like character then the Jane character cannot be far behind, and more so if it is a Hindi movie.

Here is a song from “Zimbo” (1958). It is an out and out A+ song from a B movie. It is a surprise that such a fantastic song failed to get popular for lack of proper marketing.

The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Tarzan and Zimbo are not supposed to be able to speak in human language, but Hindi movies are different. Zimbo tries to speak and by the end of the song he is able to utter the word “jaadu”. I recall that in the next century, an alien also learns to utter the very same word in “Koi Mil Gaya” (2003).

The song itself is a magical song. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Ye kiyaa toone kaisa jaadoo (Zimbo)(1958) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Male Singer, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Chitragupta

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu
aaa
aaa
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu

udne lagaa dil mera
chaahat ki hawaaon mein
chhaane lagi masti si
matwaali ghataaon mein
udne lagaa dil mera
chaahat ki hawaaon mein
chhaane lagi masti si
matwaali ghataaon mein
ham jo chale
phool khile
aayi ajab khushboo
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu

badhne lagi thhi had se
kuchh pyaas nigaahon ki
mil hi gayi zulfon si
maujen teri baahon ke
badhne lagi thi had se
kuchh pyaas nigaahon ki
mil hi gayi zulfon si
maujen teri baahon ke
aaya mazaa
ek nasha
chhaane laga harsoo
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu
aaa
haa
haaa

ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu

aa aa aa
aa aa aa

hai to bahut dilwaale
par tujh ko kahaan samjhe
aa aa aa
aa aa aa

hai to bahut dilwaale
par tujh ko kahaan samjhe
ban ke tere deewaane
hum teri zubaan samjhe
uff ye nazar
jaan e jigar
jaadugar hai tu
aa aa aa
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu
kaabu
ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu
jaadu
dil pe nahin hai mujhe kaabu
kaabu
aa aa aa

Atulji,
Thanks a lot for posting this song. We can proudly say to Ashaji, “Ye kiya toone kaisa jaadu…..” I also had no idea about the movie or song before. Just saw it first time on YT and loved it. Thanks again.

Loved the song very much and it was a first for me also. Thank you very much Atulji.

Good find/catch

Listening it first time. Nice Song ! Asha ji’s voice – sheer magic ! and in combination of Majrooh ji-Chitragupta ji ! Jadoo … !

I heard this lovely song for the first time here.
Thanks for posting..

Zimbo was a colour film (geva color). It was advertised as the first Jungle color film of India. It was dubbed into Telugu and Tamil also. I saw theTelugu dubbed movie in my school days.It was a hit too.

Superb song……simply A+ grade as Atul ji has pointed out!
