Pee ke ham tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein

Posted on: March 9, 2013

“Gumnaam” (1965) was based on Agatha Christie’s suspense novel “And then there were none”. And it must be said that this Hindi movie version added its own flavour to the story tailormade for its target audience. I am not sure that the original novel had a butler quite like Mehmood, for instance.

And as we are so fond of saying in case of Hindi movies, they have songs as well !

And one cannot imagine this movie without its songs. The songs have added considerable value to the movie. Quite a few songs from this movie have gone on to become timeless classics, and even iconic songs.

As many as four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar. The song is picturised as a drunkard song on Helen and Nanda, with Manoj Kumar looking on disapprovingly.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

hic
pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein
hic
pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein
hic
ik naya rang jama denge hum is mehfil mein
pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein
ek naya rang jama denge hum is mehfil mein

pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein

aag pee li hai jab hi chehre pe noor aaya hai
haaye
aag pee li hai jab hi chehre pe noor aaya hai
saaqiyaa teri qasam
ab suroor aaya hai
haaye
saaqiyaa teri qasam
ab suroor aaya hai

aag se aag bujha denge hum is mehfil mein
hic
ek naya rang jama denge hum is mehfil mein
pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein

tu bhi pee le ise
ghabra na sanam jeene se
haaye
tu bhi pee le ise
ghabra na sanam jeene se
yeh sharaab achhi hai
insaan ka lahoo peene se
haaye
yeh sharaab achhi hai
insaan ka lahoo peene se

pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein
hic
ek naya rang jama denge hum is mehfil mein
pee ke hum tum jo chale aaye hain is mehfil mein

Typical VIDEO song, means the song which is enjoyable while watching on the screen, though it has all which any SJ.song has got.Song sung by sharda ..Aayega Kaun Yahan…kisko sadaayen deta hai dil…was much better song ,unfortunatelly the song was NOT included in the film at that time.
