atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

Wo chaand ban muskuraa rahe hain

Posted on: March 9, 2013

“Vish Kanya” (1943) a Ranjit Production movie. The movie was directed by Kidar Sharma. It had Surendra, Sadhana Bose, Prithviraj Kapoor, Kamla, Leela Mishra, Sulochana, Brijmala etc in it.

Here is a song from this movie. This song is sung by Amirbai Karnataki. Kidar Sharma is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.

Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised.

I have been unable to note down the lyrics in the second stanza of the song. I request our readers with keener ears to point out the missing lyrics of the song.

Song-Wo chaand ban muskura rahe hain (Vish Kanya)(1943) Singer-Amirbai Karnataki, Lyrics-Kidar Sharma, MD-Khemchand Prakash

Lyrics

Wo chaand ban
muskura rahe hain
wo geet ban kar bulaa rahe hain
wo chaand ban
wo chaand ban
muskura rahe hain
wo geet ban kar bulaa rahe hain
wo chaand ban
ye dil se kehti hai
dil ki dhadkan
ye dil se kehti hai
dil ki dhadkan
dil ki dhadkan
dil ki dhadkan
dil ki dhadkan
dil ki dhadkan
kiwaad kholo
wo aa rahe hain
kiwaad kholo
wo aa rahe hain
wo aa rahe hain
wo chaand ban
wo chaand ban
muskura rahe hain
wo geet ban kar bulaa rahe hain
wo chaand ban

hai tere jalwe mein unka jalwa
hai tere jalwe mein unka jalwa
chhalaawa ban kar sata rahe hain
chhalaawa ban kar sata rahe hain

Atul ji,

From another source (i.e. Surjit Singh ji) the name of the singer of this song is given as ‘Gautami’.

As far as I can make out, the correct lyrics are

hai tere jalwe mein unka jalwaa
hai tere jalwe mein unka jalwaa
inaara ban ke sataa rahe hain
inaara ban ke sataa rahe hain

The word ‘inaara’ is the closest I can decipher it. This word means ‘heaven sent, shining, enlightened’. Other readers may please confirm or correct.

Dear Sudhir,

This voice, more or less, matches with Amirbai Karnataki’s songs in Kismat (1943). Probably Gautami may be the name of the character in the film on whom this song is picturised.

I get the same lyrics of the second stanza as you have deciphered except the word ‘inaara’. While I am not able to decipher the whole word, I get to hear the starting alphabet as ‘ja’

Could it be ‘jalaal’ which means ‘brilliance’, ‘magnificence’ ?

It sounds like ‘inara’ but can’t be. Kidar sharma is not used to use less-familiar persian words in his lyrics. He consciously avoids such words. It is ‘chhalawa’ indeed and he knew well how it persecutes.

The words according to me (and hopefully by Kidar Sharma too) must be
Hai tere jalwe mein unka jalwa (2)
Chhalava ban ke sata rahe hain (2)

(‘Chhalava’ meaning ‘Mirage’)
