atul's bollywood song a day- with full lyrics

So jaa saloney so jaa

Posted on: March 11, 2013

“Pathan” (1962), a by now obscure movie was a Madhubala Pictures private limited production. It was directed by Ataullah Khan. The movie had Premnath, Mumtaz, Siddhu, Niranjan Sharma, Iftekhar, Jugnu, Bhagwan, Achala Sachdev etc in it.

Here is a forgotten song from this forgotten movie. This song is a lullaby song which is sung by Lata. Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised.

The lyricist and music director of this song are just as obscure as the movie and the song. Apparently this movie had lots of lyricists and lots of music directors as well. Bal Kishan Puri is the lyricist of this song. There is much confusion about the music director with different sources mentioning differerent composer for this song. I have gone with the name of Fakir Mohammad Asar as the music director. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the movie as well as on the music director of this movie.
PS-Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia quickly pointed out that the movie had nine music directors and five lyricists for a sum total of seven songs and that this song is composed by Brijbhushan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Atul ji,
PATHAN-1962 had created a record.The film had 9 MDs.
Fakir Mohd.
Asar
Jimmy
Shambhu
Dattaraj
Raajbhushan
David
Brij Bhushan and
Shyambabu.

The above song is composed by Brij Bhushan.
Fakir Mohd. and Asar are 2 different composers. It is the same ASAR who was in the LALA ASAR SATTAR Triple Composers.
The film had only 7 songs and it had 5 lyricists too.

Thanks a lot for this invaluable information.

very sweet lullaby by Lata Dee.

Yesterday on Chhayaageet radio programme of Vividh Bharthi station, (I didn`t heard the announcer`s name yesterday, But the anouncer and compiler must be Yunoos Khan) played this song and at the end of the programme told that the music director`s name as Brij Bhooshan and David.

Whether this Brij Bhooshan and the music director of much later movie Milaap(shathrughna Sinha, Reena roy starrer) Brij Bhooshan are the same persons ?????

Prakash ji,
BRIJBHUSHAN,husband of Chanchal-Madhubala’s sister, was a Radio announcer before becoming active in films as a MD.His first film was Pathan,as above. But he could compose only one lori in it.(He did it alone, not with David).
He gave background music in the songless film Jaroorat of B R Ishara in 1972.His other films were Milap-72,Ek nao do kinare-73,Kaamshastra-75, and Ye sach hai-75.
