Raja haweli ki khidki zara kholna re

Posted on: March 12, 2013

“Veer Rajputani” (1955) was a Basant Pictures production. It was directed by J B H Wadia. The movie had Manhar Desai, Shakila, B M Vyas, S N Tripathi, Bipin Gupta, Helen, Meenakshi, Anwar Hussain, Babu Raje, Sharda etc in it.

B M Vyas (22 october 1920- 11 march 2013), the vilain of “Veer Rajputani” (55) passed away at the age of 93. The younger brother of lyricist Bharat Vyas, Brijmohan Vyas began his career as an actor in Prithvi Theatres in 1940s. He also sang songs as a playback singer in four movies in 1940s. He began appearing in small roles in Hindi movies in 1940s. His breakthrough movie as a movie actor was “Barsaat” (1949) where he played Nargis’s father and from there he never looked back. Interestingly, he was only 29 years of age at that time. :)

B M Vyas, with his physique made a very formidable villain. His role as Rawan in “Sampoorna Ramayan” (1961) made him a legend.

Here is a song from “Veer Rajputani” (1955). This song is sung by Rafi, Lata and Mukesh. This is a dance song in which a very young and pretty looking 16 year old Helen, dressed in Indian style gives a dance performance. She is later joined by other dancers.

B M Vyas, also gets to lip sync in this song. In the beginning, he sings a few lines in Rafi’s voice, whereaas he sings in Mukesh’s voice in the middle of the song.

Gopal Singh Nepali is the lyricist of this song. Music is composed by Bulo C Rani.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Thanks a lot for song/info as a wonderful tribute to Shri B M Vyas. Did not know that he was a playback singer too! Could u please point out the movies/songs in which he did playback singing?

Rgds.

Bhartrihari (1944),Pehle Aap (1944), Maharana Pratap (1946), and Naulakha Haar. This is according to this article:
http://maitrimanthan.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/b-m-vyas/

The only Male voice heard with Lata Mangeshkar & Chorus is that of A.R.Ojha. Mohd.Rafi’s voice is not heard anywhere in the sonc.

Thanks a lot for your visit and comment in the blog, Sir. It is our privilege to to have you among us in the blog.

Har Mandir Sir,
The voice of a male singer in the beginning, sounded like Rafi Saab, so I sent Atulji that info. I was not aware that the male singer with Lataji is A.R.Ojha. He sounded like Mukeshji and the internet info (which may be wrong) also gave credit to him. Thank you for clarifying that part. Can you please help me clear my doubts of the other male singer? Both the male singers don’t sound alike though.
Thank you sir for your comment and clarification.
