Sach sach sach o dear sach sach

Posted on: March 23, 2013

Though most Hindi movies of 1950s and 1960s had “mainstream” story lines, but a few comedy movies too were produced during that era. Quite a few of these movies had Kishore Kumar in the lead roles. Then there were some other actors who too were making their marks as comedy actors. I S Johar was one such actor.

“Bewaqoof” (1960) was a Johar Productions movie. It was produced and directed by I S Johar. the movie had I S Johar, Kishore Kumar, Mala Sinha, Pran,Sabita Chatterjee etc in it.

This comedy movie had funny comedy songs in it. As many as three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is another comedy song from the movie.

This song is sung by Kishore Kumar. The fun Hinglish lyrics of this song are written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and music is composed by S D Burman. So in other words, this movie has the same musical team as that of “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi” (1958).

The song is picturised on Kishore Kumar and Mala Sinha at the Kamla Nehru Park of Bombay (now Mumbai) and the picturisation begins with the boot house where Kishore Kumar is shown at the top of the structure singing out to Mala Sinha who is at the ground level..

This song was heard by Peevesie’s mom brother who was quite amused by the lyrics of this song. Yes, that is one household that has as many as three regular visitors to this blog.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Peevesie’s mom.

The audio version of the song is longer than the video version. I find that the lyrics of the two versions differ slightly at a few places. Here I have shown the differences in the lyrics by colour coding them. Lyrics only in audio version is shown like this and the lyrics found only in video version are shown like this.

O tiri diri diri diri diri yoodleyeee odleyi

hi Atul
thank you for posting this song. actually i visited the blog only now after the weekend. so i missed it on the day it was posted.
so you found the vdo for it thank you for that too. but tell me the parts that u ve highlighted as available on vdo only sound like Manna Dey even if it might be Kishore Kumar himself. am i right or wrong? also when i first wrote down the lyrics i also wrote it as “Chaili & Chaila” then on listening on the other link that i sent you i corrected it as “Akeli & Akela”

Yes it does sound like Manna Dey in the video for a few lines.
