Kyaa kyaa na sahe hamne sitam aapki khaatir

Posted on: April 10, 2013

“Mere Huzoor” (1968) was a Movie Moghul production. It was directed by Vinod Kumar. The movie had Mala Sinha, Raj Kumar, Jeetendra, Indira, Manorama, Parveen Paul, Ram Mohan, Surekha, Zeb Rehman, David Abraham, Johnny Walker, K N Singh, Manju etc in it.

Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. And they were all well known timeless classics, viz. Gham uthaane ke liye main to jiye jaaungaa, Jhanak jhanak tori baaje paayaliya, Jo guzar rahi hai mujhpar and Rukh se zara naqaab hata do mere huzoor.

Here is the fifth song from the movie which is just as timeless a classic as any.

This song is sung by Rafi and Lata. The song is picturised as a family get together song where Raj Kumar, Jeetendra etc are seated in the men’s portion of the house whereas Mala Sinha, Zeb Rehman, Surekha etc are seated in the women’s section. The song begins with Jeetendra lip syncing in Rafi’s voice, watched indulgently by Raj Kumar which is then followed by Mala Sinha responding in Lata’s voice, while being watched approvingly by the other ladies. Soon thereafter, both Jeetendra and Mala Sinha begin to fantasize that they are singing together in privacy, before they are brought back to reality towards the end of the song.

The video version of the song is nearly five minutes long but it is not the complete song. The complete audio version of the song is over nine minutes long. I can well imagine farmaishi programme announcers dreading the farmaish of this song, since the audio of this one song is equal in length to three normal Hindi movie songs. 🙂

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song are sent to me by Prakashchandra..

aaaa aaaa aaaa

kanwal samajhtaa hoon
chaandni kaa badal
samajhtaa hoon
teri aankhein nahin

teraa chehraa
subahaa ka suraj hai
tujhse milne ki aas rehti hai
tere jalwe kahin bhi roshan hon
raushni dil ke paas rehti hai

aa aaa aaa

I would have thought the announcers liked the long playing songs. I always imagined them vanishing for a tea/pee/chat break after putting on such a song.

Ha ha…they would have rejected the farmaish, or cut it short after 5 min. Reminds me of Chitrahaar and “aadha hai chandrama raat aadhi”. Chitrahaar would be 8.00-8.30. This song would start at around 8.23 and then go on, such that there wouldn’t be time for another song. 🙂

Since many years I have noticed all the Vividh Bharti programmes has a nasty habit of taking a short break of 1 or 2 minutes after every quarter of an hour forcing me to think that all the announcers must be handicapped by diabetes( a pre-requisite requirement for fulfilling the handicap quota) leading them to frequent relieving.
Further they will cut short songs rudely even if it is 1 minute away from the closure. Very insensitive. Is it necessary to close it on the dot. With Srilanka Broadcasting they will nilly willy complete song even if it goes beyond say 8am. We all remember the announcement of the time as 8 bajke 1 or minute huye hain after the Saigal song.
Why nobody is taking up cudgels with VB. I think I will have to stop this nonsense.

Prakashchandra ji.

So this song was hiding here in ‘Mere Huzoor’. Great hiding place for a duet of this calibre.

I dont like the songs of this film that much, but this is the nicest song in the movie.
