Mamaiyya kero kero kero maama

Posted on: September 25, 2013

This article is written by Peevesie’s Mom, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

So today (25 september 2013) is the 53rd birthday of Master Satyajeet (DOB 25 september 1960) who played the role of a young Dev Anand in “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”. He grew up and did a few movies as main lead mainly in Rajshri Films— Paheli (1977), Gopal Krishna (1979) etc and then probably he realized that he was getting nowhere as far as leading roles were concerned.

Then we saw him in 1985 in Rahul Rawail’s Arjun alongside Sunny Deol. He played Sunny’s best friend (Mohan) who gets killed in a gang war. The movie basically showed the plight of educated unemployed youth (there were so many movies showing unemployed educated heroes in the 100 years of Indian Cinema) of those times who could easily be swayed by the political parties to which ever way they wanted. (The situation is no different these days also I guess). Satyajeet’s character looked so vulnerable that you felt bad when he is killed. So also when Raja Bundela dies in prison. This movie had a decent run at the box office.

There were a few songs in that period that had friends running around making fun of each other playing pranks etc. the song I wish to discuss is one such. It is written by Javed Akhtar. Music director is RD Burman. Singer for all the artists in the video (when the camera pans on them) is Shailendra Singh.

Song-Mamaiyya kero kero kero maama (Arjun)(1985) Singer-Shailendra Singh, Lyrics-Jawed Akhtar, MD-R D Burman

yaaron pe sada jaa karo fida
dushman ko ye bata do dushmani hai kya

ghar ne jo dil se nikaala humen
in raaston ne hai paala humen
ghar ne jo dil se nikaala humen
in raaston ne hai paala humen
muskuraake hum jhelte hain gham
roke beete wo koi zindagi hai kya
duniya maane bura to goli maaro
goli maaro
dar ke jina hai koi jina yaaron
goli maaron
yaaron pe sada jaan karo fida
dushman ko ye bata do dushmani hai kya

kero maama
mamaiya kero kero kero maama

He also acted in Wapas, Mere Lal, Khilona, Anurag, Shor, Shadi Ke Baad. As a child actor he did quite well for himself.

To add this list of films Master Satyajeet – he was there in the film ‘Lakshmi-1982′ also !

I think his major last appearance is in Rekha`s Khoon Bhari maang(as a speech impaired person)who takes care of Rekha`s Horse.

And any one who know what does it means “Mamaiyya kero kero kero maama”, I am in search of the meaning of these words(Whether it is the name of any mama(mother`s brother) KHEROO/KERO ???

OR
is is just rhyming words that was fitted into mukhda lines.(as in the case of many Hindi movie songs)
Please help me regarding this.

Can anyone translate the song in English please? I am learning Hindi!!! :)

The original lyrics of this song itself is largely gibberish.
