In Hindi movies, there used to be a case where a character would decide to leave his/her family/neighbours/friends for ever, not knowing where he/she would go. I call such songs as “chal ud ja re panchhi” song, in honour of the iconic song from “Bhaabhi” (1957) that depicted this scenario.

Here is a song from a forgotten movie called “Ghar Sansaar” (1958). This movie had Balraj Sahni and Nargis in lead roles.

I had never heard about this movie called “Meri Bhaabhi” (1969). This movie, going by its name was a family drama.

When I read the title of the song, I thought it must be a clone of the “chal ud ja re panchi” song. And I was not expecting much.

The hero Joy Mukherjee is leaving his home for ever, and certainly there has got to be some major reason behind this drastic step. His wife appears suitably chastened, repentent, etc, but that is too little too late,the decision has been taken and there is no going back.
